jza800
I have some vibration/shake issue on my supra, in all mine time i had the car, i always had some vibration issue on the car, but after my build and wider wheels, the problem only get worse.. i have had the propeller shaft of the car, when i had the engine out, it have been marked up before i took the engine and propeller shaft of the car so when i had to put it on again it would be on the right place. but here is my problem: when i floor the car it is very steady and i have no vibration at all, but as i react around 100 to 105 mph, the car start to vibrate/shake very much, i can feel all the vibrations in the whole car and steering wheel, and only get worse when i brake down from that speed.. i have new wheels and new tires and they are balanced to zero.. i have controlled all 4 wheels for play, and i have no play, so i start to think mayby my propeller shaft is the problem for my vibrations.. as the car is lowered it could be that the shaft dont have the angel anymore.. or could the shaft be out of balance?? i can floor that car all i want with no problem to 80 to 90 mph and brake hard with no shake or vibration.. are there some that had the same problem that can guide me to what my problem could be?? Thank in advance
Mike2JZ
What engine mounts do you have
jza800
What engine mounts do you have Stock mounts.. i can floor it with no vibrate at all, but only to 80 to 90 mph.. if i raise the speed to over 100 mph it starts to vibrate. so the mounts should not be the problem should it? erachter
It still might be wheels and/or tyres, I don't think the wheel balancing machine spins them up to 100mph+. Or you might have out of round tyres. I know some people had the same issue with some crappy rims manufacturers that were balanced perfectly but still had a wobble at high speed. I really don't hope that as they are very expensive custom rims to around 4700 gbp for the set.. so they are not cheap.. and the tires is toyo tires.. i only know that they balanced them to zero.. Mike2JZ
What gearbox and what propshaft are you using. Are you running any wheel spacers.

Swampy442
When does the vibration stop? Are the wheels the correct centre bore, if not do you have spigot rings? Are they quality tyres or budgets?
Frank Bullitt
Gearbox mount? Diff mounts?
keron
Have you put the 2 small spacers back in between the propshaft mount to chassis? Round ones about the size of a £2 coin? I get a few in where someone’s removed the prop and lost them etc. That causes vibrations as it imbalances the prop

Are they quality tyres or budgets? I was never over 100 mph as it shaked really vialent so had to stop, the wheels are made to My supra, so they was a direct bolt on set. So No spigot rings needed. As They was build to My car the centerbore should be the right size. The tires are Toyo tires. - - - Updated - - - Gearbox mount? Diff mounts? I Will check in to Them, how is the prober way to control Them?

I was very carefull to get all in the right places. As it is a old car the propshaft probely have been of the car before. So it is possible it dont sit as I did from the factory. If so What to do? rider
I had an annoying vibration with my Range Rover between 65 and 80mph. Tracked it down in the end to a sticking n/s rear brake caliper. You would usually get an indication of this as an affected wheel is warmer than the others after a drive. A simple thing to check and remedy. I always like to start with the simple things to fix first. Interestingly, and somewhat strangely, braking never stopped the vibration. That was my thourght too, but it dont seems to be the case, the wheel turn freely around. It is only to a point i get a little Harder, but not much, i think i grab the brake pad a little bit at that point. But is that not normal.? I don't know, things expand at different rates as they warm up so it could get tighter or looser as things heat up. The vibration even when braking left me wondering if the ABS was being tricked into operating by the resistance on one wheel Also the vibration was very similar to what you feel when the ABS kicks in. Maybe you could whip out the ABS fuse and see if that makes any difference. I'm no ABS expert so whether it can be conned by a sticking brake is not something I really know about, but whipping a fuse out is a simple enough thing to try. jza800
Just a thought, this bolt on the propeller shaft, does that have to be tight? i remember i could with no problem pull out the propeller shaft out of that spot..
