Volk TE37 wheel colour opinions

Hi all,

I've recently bought some bronze OG TE37's for my white TT6, and I'm torn as to which colour to go, as they've got kerb rash, so will need a refurb.

I've contacted a local wheel refurb company and got a quote of about £500 to the original colour (they claim they can replicate the original anodized colour) or alternatively, I could get them powder coated gloss white for about £240.

I think either colour will look good, I was just wondering what people's opinions are, bearing in mind it'll be going on a stock TT6 facelift (no OEM body kit).

Also, if anyone's interested, the specs are:

18x8.5+30

18x9.5+35

Cheers,

Izaak

Hi Izaak,

First off, nice purchase! Lovely wheels these.

Colour choice is a rough one and should really be down to personal choice, but for what it’s worth, I actually think a nice gloss black would go well on these against your stock white bodied TT6.

Not sure on white, but original colour works as well.

Not sure if anyone can mock you up some examples with the different colours? Sometimes helps to see it before you spend the cash.

Whatever you decide, I’m sure they will look stunning mate! :)

All the best,

Pete

Hi Pete,

Thanks, I'm really pleased with them, and they should be a decent size/fitment for when I go BPU in the future.

I was thinking about black, but it always seems (to me at least) that with black wheels they get lost into the arches, so I've stayed away from the really dark colours in the past.

The reason I was thinking white was because my other car came with white Volks when I bought it (and I had them refurbed in white again), and quite like how they went with the car. (pic for context :))

That's definitely a great idea to have them mocked up in different colours, I'll look into that.

Thanks very much for offering your opinion and helpful suggestions!

I was looking at gold wheels for mine, but I have more pressing things that need purchasing at the moment. Maybe I have bad taste. I don't like white on white so I'd go with the original colour, bet they'll look nice once fitted.

Hello OP,

Just to give you an idea. Had both white and bronze color scheme on white and honestly, it boils down to preference. https://jza80.mkivsupra.net/imports/2020/04/190.jpghttps://jza80.mkivsupra.net/imports/2020/04/191.jpghttps://jza80.mkivsupra.net/imports/2020/04/192.jpghttps://jza80.mkivsupra.net/imports/2020/04/193.jpghttps://jza80.mkivsupra.net/imports/2020/04/194.jpg

sorry to hijack but what wheels and spec are the bronze wheels in your photo?

For the white Supra with the bronze wheels above, the specs are :-

Miro wheels (model 398) (strong and really lightweight) tested a few times on the track, and its holding up real good.

18x9.5 +34 245/35

18x10.5 +20 265/35

You could go broader tyres on the front and back. I like a little stretch, hence the current look. However, I am pretty sure you will be able to install one or two step broader tires.

Only my rears are rolled. No rubbing unless high speed dips on the freeway, (minor, I can live with it.)

Very respectfully,

Rishi Gill

I dont think i'd spend £500 on getting them anodised, so many colours available in powder coat these days

and at least half the cost if not more depending who does them

I'll put this here to help you choose :)

Thanks, £500 was the quote to get them powder coated! I think it came to be so expensive because they were going to powder coat them a base colour, paint bronze and then finish with a matte powder coat lacquer (to replicate the original anodized finish). I think the only reason I'd go with this option is to then be able to (theoretically) have the original rays bronze centre caps with the wheels.

But you're right, it is pretty steep, so I'll probably go for a close powder coat match instead for 1/2 the price and sort else something out for centre caps.

Cheers,

Izaak

If I’m not too late to the party what about shadow chrome?

You’re definitely not too late, never thought about that or even knew that’s what that colour was called! Thats quite nice actually, definitely another one I’ll consider, thanks
