Remove Under-bonnet Insulation Or Not?

Recommended Posts

The insulation under my bonnet looks a little worse for wear. Some of it sags and some clips are broken. It’s still functional but the question is, ‘Do I remove it or replace it?’

I would really like to just remove it but would this cause issues in the winter with it starting or is it likely to cause issues with the paint on the bonnet due to heat?

Any advice would be welcome, cheers.

Unless you have a show winning engine bay, personally I'd leave it.

Or. Look at it like this. If the paint on your bonnet, in some places, looks a bit crack, as if it's matt due to the heat damaging it, would this bother you much? If not, remove it. But it's a trade off for external visual vs engine bay visual.

I'd be keeping it.
