puggy
The insulation under my bonnet looks a little worse for wear. Some of it sags and some clips are broken. It’s still functional but the question is, ‘Do I remove it or replace it?’ I would really like to just remove it but would this cause issues in the winter with it starting or is it likely to cause issues with the paint on the bonnet due to heat? Any advice would be welcome, cheers.
Mo Reviews
Why don't you just replace it?
nolizma
Mine never had one since I bought it, 5 years ago. Seemed fine but now the paint has been damaged on the centre of the bonnet. Will need to paint and get it insulated to future proof.
Noz
Unless you have a show winning engine bay, personally I'd leave it. Or. Look at it like this. If the paint on your bonnet, in some places, looks a bit crack, as if it's matt due to the heat damaging it, would this bother you much? If not, remove it. But it's a trade off for external visual vs engine bay visual. I'd be keeping it.
Dnk
No issues on my car without it in several years
bayside_supra
Remove it, sounds much better without it. I just did some heat reflective material under the bonnet to stop it getting so hot. It’s been due for well over a year without it though
Andrew K
Same here and I haven’t had any issues on my car without it in 5 or so years.
puggy
Ah so some mixed reviews! It really isn’t in the best shape. I think I’ll probably remove it, clean it up and then look to use some heat reflective material or try source a new one.
drift_bear
I’ve never ran one on anyway if my supra’s and never had any issues tbh. They uk spec bonnet helps with venting the heat so imho it helps with heat soak/damage on the underside of the bonnet
Mike2JZ
I ripped mine out years ago, never had an issue with paint etc.
