mellonman
Just wondering what people thoughts are on this as some of our staff members have been furloughed and some not , now a couple of the guys are like why do we still have to work while the others sit at home with 80% pay . I must admit I wouldn't mind being at home with 80% pay getting my supra back up to spec . It does seem unfair to me being your keeping everything runing for nothing extra while everyone else is sitting at home with there feet up. One guy said it's like going to work for 20% pay . I know that's not quite right but I see where he was coming from .
rider
The guys I put on furlough seem to appreciate and enjoy it. No getting up early. No time wasted or expense travelling to work. No need to buy food and drink while at work. The 20% is taxed so it's more like a 15% reduction, probably wouldn't cover the additional expenses in most cases. As a boss its also strange issuing payslips and payments for zero hours worked and no overtime with nearly full pay. Its more than they would get on holiday pay as the 80% is worked out from an average take home, including overtime. A lot of people will be in for a shock when the scheme ends and a redundancy letter replaces the furlough process. In this case, you probably wouldn't want to be one of the ones the company felt it could spare during the furlough process. So share that with your collegues, they most likley won't be at the front of the line for redundancy whilst those enjoying their time at home most likely will be. mellonman
if everything bonces back to normal and should for my line of work they guys that are most needed have had to work and the guys that are useless have sat at home for 2 months with 15% less pay. once again the hard working of us gets shafted when we should be the ones having the break for a change . rider
Life is rarely fair. I always fume that I travelled to work in deep snow which took 3 hours in the car to do a 15 mile round trip with a full 8 hours sandwiched in between. Very few people made it to work that day so they gave those who didn't the day off as an extra free holiday, nothing at all for those few who turned up. I was really pissed, wasted a load of fuel, could have crashed my car and wasted 11 hours of my life. I was that pissed I left that employer a few months later. There, another solution for you.
