Insurance for standard Supra with agreed value

Recommended Posts

It’s that time of year again, anyone recently insured a standard Supra with an agreed value. Who have you got quotes from? Who did you go with and how much was it?

Currently Lancaster insurance, they matched my quote from last year which was £218 with agreed value.

I'm glad I brought Reis to the forum. They've been great for me and everyone else who's used them so far.

Dont forget to tell them I sent you. They give extra discount. I'm like a rep these days :D

Tayr just move out your Bently in the night time!

Whats the value they've given you ? also what conditions imposed ? garaged, mileage allowed etc

£218 sounds very cheap to me

I tried them but they said the car had to be garaged every night which would be such a pain in the arse

Mines in an alarmed integral garage all the time so not an issue for me.

What’s their agreed value process like?

I had to send them 6 pictures and a valuation from a reputable Supra specialist. Alternatively, you could send them links to a few adverts and 6 pictures of your car.

Pretty straightforward if you ask me...

Same as Lancaster then.

I had to send them other adverts. Didnt arguen the £30k. I sent way more than the six photos though lol. Just in case! As never had a proper valuation before.

Mines locked up overnight. 5k miles.

As they are part of the markerstudy group same as Lancaster I’m assuming their will be little if any difference in price to my renewal quote?

Brokers tend to take different rates of commission. No harm in getting a quote. Have you tried the other usual suspects for comparison?

To put things into perspective, the quotes I got from Reis on my Supras were so good, the nearest quote was almost a thousand pounds dearer!

I have in the past tried AF, Sky and LWIB but no one has ever been able to compete. Will try Reis when they open on Tuesday.

I dont think i'd be bothering if its only £218 and you have the cover you want

My E46 330 with market value of i guess £4k is nearly £200, lots of ncb, low miles,

clean license, good postcode, 59 yrs old second car etc

I rang them up as a few things had changed, I have a different job, have increased the value of the car to £35000 and wanted to drop the mileage for this year with the prospect of not being able to use really. Spoke to a really nice chap who was really helpful, apparently the reason my quote was exactly the same as last year is I’m on the minimum premium so I’ve ended up with a higher value (subject to agreed value approval), the same mileage and a reduced excess for the same price. Don’t think I’m going to bother for the what will only be a few quid.

Also the guy I spoke to had owned a uk mkiv tt6 some years back and sold it in 2005 for £7500, he told me he wished he’d kept it and instantly regretted selling. He then said can I ask you a random question, do you Know how many uk manuals are left and I said well funnily enough yes, yes i can and got my anorak on :D

🤣 well played, and er how many is that asking for a friend 😁

62 UK Manuals left here, but assume it's probably slightly less. Just waiting for the updated end of year figures to be released by the DfT at the end of May.

Sort of same as mine through them I declared all mods Uk spec and they valued mine agreed at £30k 5k mileage

My insurance is coming up for renewal and I'm looking at agreed value with Reis. It's a stock (more or less...) UK Spec Auto.

Does anyone know how accurate the for sale ad examples need to be? Or have any decent ones to hand? I can't find any UK specs for sale or sold really.

And do the 6 photos need to include any specific parts of the car?

Mileometer

Front with reg plate

side

rear

interior

engine bay.

I'd be aiming for 40-45k for UK TT Auto if it's clean

It would be really helpful whoever you go with to share the Agreed Value you get. I am in the process of having mine agreed and when I do, I will share.

I used LV Classic Car, as above I needed to provide 6 pics = front, back, sides (not a hair cut) interior and engine bay. I stated what I wanted as agreed value and they went away and agreed. It was very simple.
