supra_aero
I thought forum etiquette was thing s were sold to first response. At least that's how it always used to be back in the day in the early 2000s. Showing my age now. I've been about longer than this profile lol! Maybe facebook/social media have meant it's common by selling by pm/im is the new thing. I don't do social media etc so maybe I am just very old school. It is old school to PM for transactions and it doesn’t need you to have to write a post in the thread saying “PM’d you”. The seller checks time stamps to deduce who was first. The daft thing about it is you offered the full price so it’s even more unlikely that you’ve been shafted. The forum has had more arguments over posts no greater than 5minutes since the first post yet PM still got there first. Your reply was 3hrs later My assumption is you haven’t PM’d the seller the literal minute after the initial post? And you don’t known how many PMs were were received in the 3hrs before your first thread post? Unfortunately we will never know if you were the first to respond, you have just assumed and by all accounts and the way you reacted it looks like you spat the dummy out when you were not the winner. Even when I joined, and listening to older members than me back then, as people objected to PM bids way back then, it was first come first served, by PM or thread. It has never been anything else, plus ultimately it is up to the seller who he sells to.

I'm the same , if all chat takes place on the thread, everyone knows where they stand, in PM nobody knows. And if they sold straight away then mark them as sold on the thread. But to each their own
ShawnPreece
I’m good friends with Dan (the seller) and it was also for sale on the Facebook page which is where it sold and when he came on here later on in the evening to comment on here to say sold that’s when he noticed your comment and therefore mentioned it was sold. Unfortunately because of social media and more advertising strategies this day in age it’s very rare that any items are only ever advertised on one place and therefore there is always a chance or anything being sold even where no comments are made (even things like cars... the number of times I’ve called about a car on auto trader and it’s sold via eBay for example) I was only made aware of this post as Dan called me as he was upset about the comment, he’s relatively new to the forum and he’s only bought his first Supra less than a month ago so he’s trying to build relationships with people on here and didn’t want to upset anyone, he’s a very honest person and a great addition to the Supra community. Unfortunately though with the increase of popularity in social media and with the additional avenues of places to advertise we all just have to accept that in this day in age being the first to comment on a for sale post doesn’t necessarily mean we are the first to be in touch about the item. ShawnPreece
And if they sold straight away then mark them as sold on the thread. But to each their own In this case that’s my fault sorry, Dan (the seller) text me asking how to mark it as sold as he’s new to the forum but I was on the phone for hours and didn’t get back to him soon enough and then had a phonecall off him which I switched to as he had just logged onto the forum and seen the comment, my bad sorry
supra_aero
Honestly don't worry guys we are all here to help each other. I was just bit upset missed out but if someone else got it so be it. If it went to a good home so be it. I understand both points of view as do many people on here. It went to a good home and I am no desperate need for any of this. So thanks guys and no harm meant. Sorry didn't mean to cause any uproar. I m sure nothing malicious was meant by it. We are all here to help each other. Besides they live local so easier to sell /collect.
