suprano
Got a spare engine for my car that James cbr on here can't wait to refresh all new gasket kit genuine Toyota, but was wondering should I go genuine or blue print on water and oil pump or any other suggestions? Cheers
Rob W
Personally I would always go with OEM. With the work it is to change for example the oil pump, you don’t want to be doing it again anytime soon.
AC93
Just had my block forged and built.. OEM oil and water pump for me, not worth the risk imo
mellonman
its worth a check the stock water pumps are made by aisin and you can pick up cheaper they Toyota but same product
mattdavies
its worth a check the stock water pumps are made by aisin and you can pick up cheaper they Toyota but same product Add to this, you can buy just the front half with a Gasket if you input the Aisin Part number. Scooter
Oil pump i'd stick with oem (ebay/amayama not really much more expensive than a pattern part) and it has massive labour cost to fit another an potential to kill the engine and all your hard rebuild work. The water pump I'd be less precious about, easier to change and tend to weep coolant before the fail properly so easy to spot and unlikely to effect anything else if is does fail. Don't let it weep too much.. I have learnt it will kill the alternator
Scooter
There should be a short piece of tubing to help avoid that.. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?211485-Maybe-water-pump-Leak&highlight=water+pump+leak
