mplavery
So My insurance is due soon and currently its been agreed valued at 30k Anything more then this will need to have trackers on with Sky so i have been told Think they have to be S5 and thatcham approved As prices seem to be going strong still has anyone put any trackers on there car ? I know you can get some which dont have a monthly fee for about £300 which are normally used for bikes. They have 10 year battery life and dont need to be hard wired in. If so, post up the details as im in the market for one. cheers Edited March 12, 2020 by mplavery (see edit history)
Mo Reviews
Shervin is the man when it comes to alarms and trackers. Speak to him if you're interested. If your insurer has demanded the installation of a tracker and you can't/don't want to seek an alternative policy, then I'm afraid you will have to comply with their demand else they could refuse to insure your car or perhaps propose to remove the agreed valuation. rider
I have old cars insured for over £30k on agreed value with Hiscox (via Hagerty) and no requirement to fit a tracker. I'd suggest you change insurer unless you live in a dodgy area or park your car in dodgy areas in which case you might want a tracker if you have a strong desire to have a stolen car returned. tayr
There is no way i'm letting a tracker company rip apart the plastics in my supra to fit a tracker. Been there before - they just pull and yank at random parts and you dont realise theyre broken till after they leave

rider
This is it, isn't it. I had a stolen car returned after a few days missing and wished it hadn't been. The steering lock was barrelled and the replacement barrell didn't fit the cowling hole as it should and the door and ignition keys were never again one and the same. The repairs were less expensive than the insurance excess so I sourced the parts and did the repairs. Paying to have a stolen car recovered is something that benefits the insurer. Akin to banks selling their bad debt provision to punters under PPI. It's a great business idea to have customers pay for something that is only there to save the company money. Looks like i will shop around more if this is the case. Sky normally do the best deals for me the past 6/7 years i have been with them.. I dont live in a dodgy area unless some OAP wants to nick it lol Im not sure where we are on 6speeds these days but im guessing there just over the 30 mark now I think if my car ever got stolen i would want it back just for the fact of how long i have had it and the work i have put into it.. However i have never had a vehicle stolen so my feelings could change if it did happen Have you try classicline insurance? I have agreed valued of £70k for one of my car they never require tracker only cat1. I haven't mate, Normally i struggle with classics because of the mods i have done to the car exterior wise but i will give them a call there are 2 different types of Thatcham approved tracker’s S7 and S5 OR S5 plus comes with [engine immobiliser] And they both insurance approved [thatcham ] If you car value is up to 30k the insurance company normally ask you to fit S7 category trackThanks ers and if your car value is over 30k up they will ask you to fit S5 category trackers and there is an options to have engine immobiliser with it And price are all included for firs year but you need to pay the subscription from Ayear after , I dnt think the one you mentioned is thatcham approved the one they use on the bikes are normally Datatool product owns by scorpion or Vodafon (cobra) and if your car get stolen I think you need to pay them one of payment to chase your car for you and i font think you can use it all the time because of the battery life The one a mate has sends one ping once the vehicle is still until you tell it its been stolen, Then it pings all the time. - - - Updated - - - There is no way i'm letting a tracker company rip apart the plastics in my supra to fit a tracker.
