Of course, as you say, each car should ultimately be valued on its own merits but I would have expected to see the 'bottom line' follow the trend we see in other RHD markets, more specifically, the JDM, where most of the cars on our road originated from!

I'd be interested to see a comparison of global production numbers of RHD vs LHD Supras and how many actually remain of each. From what I could find here, there were 32,276 RHD cars produced globally, compared with 12,836 LHD cars.

I gave some info to Monkey 3 (IT whizz) and he used it to extract the colour split and I think the production numbers roughly match the New Zealand figures.

Have you seen the state some of those cars are in? Even then, they still appear advertised at thousands of pounds more than our cars... If those cars were advertised here, I would expect them to be sold out of somewhere in high wycombe... :taped:

Which just goes to prove the point, just because "Supra" it doesn't mean it's worth ££££'s! But try explaining this to people along with supply and demand and market over saturation and they just bury their heads in the sand as they don't want to accept fact.

If I approached Toyota's headquarters, they'd probably tell me to get lost. However, if the club approached Toyota, that may yield a more engaging response? As these cars become fully fledged classics, this sort of information will become paramount to future insurance claims and insurance valuations.

I think Toyota would tell us all to do one in all honestly. I don't think Toyota hold the MKIV in high regard. After all the input from this forum and it's members a few years ago, plus the US side too you could be forgiven for expecting a decent heritage programme rather than the recent p155 poor effort they decided to roll out.

Toyota using previous marques to attend public events with the MKV is purely a publicity stunt and to draw the crowds in.

Why do you think that is? I think most would agree that this is actually quite appalling coming from the manufacturer behind one of, if not, the most iconic 90s sports car.

The MKIV is a constant reminder to Toyota of how great they once were, never to be replicated and never to be matched. I see it like a thorn in their side. A constant reminder of how they sold out.

Effort??? What effort???

The US forum had the same going on their side of the pond. We didn't get anywhere :(

Thank link should have been pinned.

There is a site where you can input your vin and then you can just see the spec of the next one off the line and the next and so on.....bar one factory change in the later cars (the VIN starts 1 think rather than 000 - NZ site will confirm) the vin is just sequential. Monkey3 was able to extract this data somehow.

I agree 100%. But what exactly did they sell out for? The Prius?! :rlol:

Perhaps we should organise a convoy of the finest MKIVs in the country to drive to Toyota UK, along with banners and signs with our demands. Such a palpable presence will certainly draw the attention of some of the senior executives tucked away in the building... I think, given the unusual circumstances, it is going to be up to us, as owners, to wave the flag here.

I agree with Frank, I emailed Toyota UK a few years back (at least 10 in fairness) asking for more details about the Aerotop spec etc and they said they don’t know check the internet and owners clubs

That sounds interesting, I know info can be picked up on Toyodiy but didn't realise there was something this in-depth out there.

They went with the soft safe option and I feel they would point in the direction of Lexus if people wanted a performance vehicle from them now.

I do have Paul Van der Burgh's email address from when I contacted him about the petition and our forum so it wouldn't be too hard to make him aware of something like this.

That's utterly pathetic. If we want to be able to enjoy our cars in the future, I think we will need to take some sort of tangible action sooner rather than later in order to yield the result we are all looking for... perhaps even arranging a mutual date with all the Supra forums from around the world to do the same? Now, that would be something!

These email addresses are more or less public knowledge in this day and age:

Paul Van der Burgh, Toyota UK MD - [email protected]

Akio Toyoda, Toyota Japan President - [email protected]

James Lentz, Toyota North America CEO - [email protected]

I think we should arrange a 'global' convoy and put these executives on notice via email. If this doesn't yield a positive change, nothing will.

That's not the one I used as I was told it goes straight to his PA but it would be worth a try. It was given to me from someone who knows him personally.

Out of interest, did you get a response from his PA or did you simply get a response from a glorified complaint handler?

I would imagine it was either a PA (doubtful now I think about it) more probable that is was a glorified complaint handler.

When I got the other address it took over a month to get a reply but it came directly from him, signed sealed and delivered with a kiss. I had high hopes but nothing ever materialised.

So, providing John and co are happy with these proposals? I'm sure we'll be able to generate enough noise, both figuratively and literally, to get noticed by the actual decision makers. Then and only then, will they take us seriously and stop treating us like a typical bunch of internet heroes.

I suspect the vast majority of these publically available contact details simply filter through to teams of senior complaint handlers, but they, I imagine, would be able to escalate any urgent and/or serious matters to the senior leadership team. Gotta love red tape and the corporate veil!

No idea I am afraid. That is beyond my pay grade and anything club related has to go through JB. Ultimately it's his name and his baby, then it would be down to the event mods to organise.

I'm conscious that we have somewhat hijacked the OP's thread. Sorry bud, we got caught up in the Toyota discussion!

I'm going to create another thread and let's see whether; there is much interest, JB and co are ok with it, and if anything productive can come of it...

This is meant in the nicest possible way and I really don't think anyone will mind but ask permission. PM one of the mods or event mods first. I have reported this thread to get someones attention so hopefully a mod will chime in soon.

Regarding the OP I believe he's cool

Yes my thread kind of went down a "Come on Toyota, hear our cries" Thread. I was waiting for Greta to turn up...

It's all ok, it's very easy to get carried away with things that you're passionate about and that is a good thing.

It's a horrible thing when you go to Toyota to order something and they say "sorry, discontinued" and then just stand their with a f*** off look on their face. When I replaced all the buttons on the climate control unit they were really scraping the bottom of the box.

I shared a few images with another member on here who has shown interest in my car, of all the receipts I have from Toyota and my household documents folder that is absolutely dominated by my car. lol

How many of you out there have a box kicking around full of switches, clips and other bits and bobs for or from your car? ;)

Going to add two pictures to the first post taken a couple of days ago of how the car catches good night light and hopefully start a proper for sale thread over the weekend.
