basch32
Hi all, Just looking at getting a possible rebuild/refresh of the supra done and was looking at the garages/people that are on here. Was hoping to get some input/feedback on who is best or is it just a case of location/work required? The ones I have been focusing on are Garage Wiftbitz, SRD and Chris Wilson. Know all have good reps on here from reading posts so more just looking for people experience or comments on what pros/cons to each are liek for instance I believe SRD are Syvecs only shop etc. I'd just be coming from Ireland so want to make the best/informed decision possible. Many thanks.
Style
Another place to check out is Performance@Hart in Stourbridge. James did a great job on refreshing the underside of my car
Scooter
Chris Wilson is more your purist, he'll do certain mods but I don't think he'd get all involved with wire tucks etc, loathes too much lowering or too large wheels and/or spacers etc, so it depends on your car and what you want doing SRD/Whitbitz will I think do pretty much what you want within reason? James is a nice guy and perhaps more grass rootsy, hands on with his and his brothers car so knowledgable and probably lower cost?
Noz
What does rebuild refresh even mean?
basch32
Awesome thanks for the heads up scooter and I was thinking Chris myself. Though will definitely give James a look in now that two people have mentioned his name. Noz not sure if your comment is just being an ass or genuinely curious. I'm looking at getting the car checked over with any issues resolved and any components that need to be refreshed and possible after discussions some additional upgrades. basch32
Lol wasnt being a $#@!. Sorry it came over like that. I had engine build and respray in my mind. Haha all good sometimes it's hard to gauge and it being the Internet and all my bad Yup I'm just trying to bring the car back to like new first and then look at upgrades/build once it's in a solid place. I'm ocd with my car so want it to be perfect and nows the time for a full send or spend in this scenario
Noz
My thoughts are you will likely end up using different people for different tasks. Any of the usual recommended experienced garages could do an overall check and some basic BPU mods. Or more depending on your budget. basch32
Ah ya that's possible, I'm not looking for any body work or aesthetics at the moment. I'm thinking Chris might be my go to guy for the mechanical aspects such as general health, suspension etc. I'm not looking for a show car just a properly setup road car
rider
Yup I'm just trying to bring the car back to like new first and then look at upgrades/build once it's in a solid place. I'm ocd with my car so want it to be perfect and nows the time for a full send or spend in this scenario That's something thats about as long as an elasticated rope. As new could mean renewing and refreshing all the underside components and tackling any rust as well. To get to all the possible rust areas that is going to include dropping out the rear sub frame. Then, you might as well tidy that up and get that treated and galvanized. Where do you stop? I spent well over 100 hours of my time looking and dealing with the underneath of my car and spent over £10k cash on bits and parts you will never see. Then there are companies that say they can spray the raptor in under a week for a couple of grand whereas my refurb if I paid for my time was more a £15k effort. My best recommendation would be to get a very detailed written breakdown from every company you contact on exactly what they will do to the car so you know what you are getting for a price. Better still would be do it, or oversee it yourself. There may well be companies out there who would be happy for the owner to get involved and muck in, then you could see exactly what has been done and also what needs or is needing doing.
