Battery disconnect when not in use

Ok so I don’t take the Supra out very often (shite weather) it’s covered up out side,I normally disconnect the + side of the battery to save it going flat ,so I been out today for a quick run and my overdrive is not working, this is the third time I’ve had this problem it’s a diode on the ecu board ,burns out.so I can replace it no problem ,do you think me disconnecting the live terminal and reconnecting when I use it would blow this diode :(

Yeah I've always disconnected the -ve terminal. Fitted an isloator switch last year to save pissing about with a 10mm

Disconnecting the +ve terminal means that if you touch the battery post, you'll complete the circuit and give your self an almightly belt. It may even arc across a nearby metal as well.

You're better off with a battery optimiser if possible.

That way the alarm/immobiliser would still be active, along with not having to set the radio settings every time - which would drive me nuts [emoji23]

Does your insurance require the alarm/immobiliser to be active? Worth thinking about.

I got the cheapo one at the bottom of the Amazon page, with a simple plastic screw top, they are nice and low profile and get the job done simply?

Yep, me too. Just fastens straight to the battery terminal and the negative end of the battery cable itself goes onto the other end of the switch. Very handy
