SPG
Hi all, Looking to get an idea (not selling) of what a 2JZ-GTE pulled out of a supra would fetch on the open market these days? I see loads of Aristo engines circulating but hardly any Supra ones. Thanks in advance.
rider
Its going to depend if its a short engine, full enegine, including turbo's or not, including the hard to find loom or not, with inlet side intact or not. All ancilliaries or not. All sensors or not. The place you do see a few for sale is in the USA or Canada and the full kit is usually in the region of US$4,000 but some have been trending up to an eye watering $5,000 for a original Supra engine with limited warranty. So that'd be for a full engine setup up to £4k proper money. Quite a bit more than an Aristo setup.

Thanks for the reply rider, and it would be a complete engine with all ancillaries/loom manifolds turbos, basically as if it had been pulled out of a working supra. I’ve seen Aristo complete engines selling for up to £3k recently. I was guesstimating roughly £5k for a healthy Supra engine in the current market. blythmrk
I think 5-5.5k for a complete jdm Supra engine and 6-6.5k for a complete UK engine setup. Shervin_ice advertised one recently but with a half cut engine loom and that is one of the key selling points the engine loom.
Swampy442
Why? Who is an Aristo engine worth so much less? Its more or less the same engine. You're adding basically 2 and a half grand for a water pump and a harness.

Scooter
"Arguably" they'd have also generally done higher miles and on average had less frequent oil changes? To be fair though if your engine can't be rebuild and has suffered a semi terminal failure then the Aristo would make a cheaper swap over as you'd have the bits to swap to hand. Ric
And sumps, engine mounts, turbo drains etc isn't the aristo ecu in the engine bay too? so it would need loom work.
Swampy442
And sumps, engine mounts, turbo drains etc Sump fair play, I've got one for 150 quid, oil drain the same

A new loom is a grand so you've still saved 1500 quid on a Supra sourced engine

The mk1 aristo shared many parts with the Mkiv Supra. Edited January 30, 2020 by blythmrk (see edit history)
