Foxx
Hi all, If anyone has any experience/contacts/suggestions for sourcing parts when in Japan would appreciate the share. We are there in a couple of weeks, packing light for the cause. Also any decent tuning shops or car shows/meets you may have visited would love to hear about them. Thanks in advance

SupraLEDrears
What parts you after and di you buy burty's supra?
Foxx
Main one is vvti airbox that I'm struggling with. Thought there might be a few more there. Also if they have things like suspensions arms cheaper etc (nothing too heavy)
Spunkmeyer
Any legs in arranging a group buy on the VVTI airbox? I’m up for replacing mine Edited January 21, 2020 by Spunkmeyer (see edit history)

Foxx
If we had one to digitally map or whatever it is they do, I reckon someone could 3d print them now. A post on Facebook with 3d printed parts replied to me that 1 is not worthwhile for them. Might work if we ordered a few.

Foxx
I'm asking a few companies UK based. Some feedback has been that some plastic used on 3d printers are thermoplastic not suitable to under bonnet temps. I heard you can print in resin, not sure if that's more heat resistant. Sakey
Not strictly true, 3D printed parts in the bay are common it just a matter of selecting the correct type of printing process and material (E.G. you can print in high temp stuff like metal, ASA, Nylon, polycarb). In fact i've used 3D printed parts on my st205 own build and have held up post tubo - pre intercooler temps on top the engine. Scanning wise of an asset is straightforward as long as you give it to someone who knows what their doing, anyone that claims Photogrammetry is good enough for reverse engineering is a clown so avoid them if your going to go that route. It requires a lot of post clean up too as off the top of my head the stock airbox has a lot of hard to get areas.
drift_bear
Good luck, very few places stock parts for MKIV supras anymore. You might get kicky and find the odd things in upgarage/autobaks but I wouldn’t hold my breath on it!
Samurai 20V
Yahoo auction Japan is most likely the best source of parts for the Supra. Autobacs & JMS are retail stores that sell new parts. Up Garage do second hand parts, check these out, but its a lucky packet if you find any Supra parts. If you can, visit Taihei tyre, they sell 2nd hand wheels and tyres, never seen such a huge store. Garage Defend in Nagoya stock some quality cars, & GT net. Try to get to Top secret & Mines if you can.. Edited January 21, 2020 by Samurai 20V (see edit history)
raddys
I would suggest browsing selling websites once out there, use a translator app/google to translate and converse with potential sellers and possibly utilize a postal service out there to send heavy items back without the taxes added ontop

Stephen88
I am out here at the moment been doing the same. Went to up garage not a single thing for the supra. I looked online for the website as well not a thing. Shame that I guess there are not many supras vs skylines. Skylines seems to have a lot more support with the Nismo factory. I am trying to visit the TRD station while I am out here, been there once already and no response when I knocked. Not a lot of contact information either.. I thought about visiting top secret and mines too but most of their support seems to be with skylines. Only max orido racing is really supporting the supra with parts. suggest to buy a Gazoo Racing t-shirt to visit the TRD station from mega web to show interest. It seems you can’t rock up there with arms opening. Be worth trying to see the famous castrol supra. Mega web is worth going again no supras there but worth seeing for the rally stuff. Hire a car if you can and see if you can make it to the daifoku car park Edited January 22, 2020 by Stephen88 (see edit history)
nolizma
My one is in pretty good condition, I'd be up for removing it to be copied if we can get some momentum behind this...I could possibly help with the CAD if people want to go ahead with this.
