Supra N/A No Spark and No power to fuel pump - HELP

Hi all I have my friends Supra Na thats been stood a couple of years and now won't start. Engine turns but doesn't fire up. I put a live to fuel pump direct and I can hear it work however the plug to the pump isn't showing and power. Also took a lead / plug out and no spark..

It is fitted with an aftermarket alarm but that seems to be working OK (When it immobilses the car doesn't turn once switched off it turns over OK)

Any ideas anyone? I'm not very mechanically minded however can do basic checks etc..

Check the igniter module on the LH suspension turret. Of thats not working the car will turn but wont fire. The bracket its mounted on also acts as its earth. If this corrodes which some have...it also wont start. Check both of those.

HI, I did have a look at that (as my MR2 had similar issues many moons ago) it was slightly corroded so I gave it a clean with some sand paper and it looked OK to be honest but still won't fire up (on the drivers side turret with a lead going to the distributor). Is it possible to check if its working or not? My MR2 had an issue with the ignitor as well but it used to start but misfire..

On the driver side is the distributor coil. Car will missfire as you said. On the passenger side is the igniter coil.

Maybe check the alternator and battery? Nas are quite simple motors to be fair. Check everything on the ignition side. Make sure all the leads are plugged in properly to

Had a mechanic look over it and he seems to think its the ECU. Took the ignitors off and fitted to one of his customers cars and they started up. Swapped with mine and it didn't start up.

Unfortunately the customer has taken his car back and is unable to come back for a couple of weeks.

Anyone have one for sale for a manual N/A MkIV

I don't know what you're asking for. An NA ignitor, or an ECU?

I have an ignitor for sale.

Cheers mate as mentioned managed to put my coil / ignitor onto another supra and that started up so don't think its the earths although I did clean up the back of the distributor coil where it makes contact with the bracket.

  • 3 weeks later...

Well got hold of a used ecu + a new battery fitted = the car started up :) However have a few more issues hoping someone can help with.

1 - The car is idling at 2k rpm constantly.

2 - Battery Light / Fan light and the handbrake light in centre of dash also stay on.
