p00t
A strange thing is happening with my supe when i go to start it, there is a delay ranging from 2 - 5 sec from when i turn my key and the car starting. Could it be the battery needs charging/replacement? Anyone else experienced this?
Ian C
Do you mean a delay before the engine starts turning over, or that's how long it turns over for before it actually fires? -Ian
p00t
Delay before the engine starts turning over. I turn the key and nothing, not a sound for a couple of seconds, then it turns over and fires. Strange though sometimes its fine and other days it does it.
Chris Wilson
The starter motor needs rebuilding, it is now such a common problem I keep rebuild parts on the shelf, but only for in house use. So if you want I can fix it, either I need the car or the starter motor. About 65 quid, if you send just the starter, unless the commutator or windings are buggered, in that case an exchange starter is required, but i doubt it would start at all in that case. Alex
I expect Chris is right if he's seens a few go this way...but do you have an immobiliser? Could this be slow to disable? Just trying to cover all the angles.
p00t
Believe it or not i've got some shifty manual conlog immobiliser where you have to plug the key in. It never used to be slow to disable... could it be it? Chris, if i was to send you the starter motor, how long would my car be off the road for until i get it back? Chris Wilson
I should be able to return it back to you next day after it arrives.

Any auto electrician or car alarm dealer should be able to check this for you within 1/2 hour tops. (Probably 5 minutes!)
