Should be able to tell on the vin plate on the side of the engine bay. It will end in b: ie: a01b

If you spin up the back tyres do you leave a number 11?

 

Other way is to drain the oil and take the cover off.

No I think it’s only one wheel it’s going out a bit but i don’t think it’s locking

Jack the back wheels up and turn one of the wheels, if the other wheel turns in the same direction, you have an LSD.

I’ve 19 x 275 wheels so that probably doesn’t help

It sounds that way. When you change your diff oil next service pop the rear cover off and look inside. Use the above photos as reference and you will know for sure.

After googling abit it appears torsen diffs behave like an open diff in normal circumstances so maybe that’s why...

The wheels on my LSD TT6 spin in the same direction. Though, the open diff on my single auto causes the back wheels to spin in opposite directions. Not really sure about other manufacturers or alternative types of differentials?

Interesting - I’ll have to crack it open as currently doing the bushes on my subframe so it’s already out the car wouldn’t hurt to take a peak

Thanks for the reply’s Next free evening I’ll take casing of and get a look . It might be lack of low end power as I don’t think it’s going just 100% . After 5000 rpm it starts to pull but maybe I was expecting to much . Only I new owner btw loved toyotas all my days and finally got me a supra . Still chuffed with myself was liking the thought of some sideways action . Autos might not do it full stop ?

There is a straight blitz system underneath and a leak at manifold so that might be causing less back pressure, compression etc

Just to reinforce, its an LSD, Limited Slip Diff, not a proper locking diff, so depending on conditions you might only get a 1 wheel peel, or one and a bit of scrabbling from the other.

 

A suffix means open diff, B means TorSen LSD
