Stephen88
Hi All, I am new to the Supra ownership and after a search on google and some chats with more experience owners, it seems is fairly normal that there is a bit of clunking noise when changing in the lower gears? Appreciate if fellow manual TT6 owners can attest to this. Last night I was just cruising quietly on some smaller roads roadabouts etc....when I upshift from 2nd to 3rd or downshift from 3rd to 2nd there is a clunking noise and sometimes a bit of a quiet whine almost soft grind noise as the gear engages. When I put my foot on the accelerator in 3rd there is a soft clunk noise as well (after the gear change). Just like to hear from fellow owners on this as I am new to the ownership and trying to understand if there is an issue with the car. sorry if this has been discussed before but I have tried the search functionality. Thanks!!

tayr
Yes, 1st to second always a clunk in the AM or when its cold (maybe lack of fluid at the beginning?) Also 4th to 5th feels like a knuckle I would assume it's normal mate. Like people have said they are generally quite "bangy" Edited October 22, 2019 by tayr (see edit history)

Scooter
Things that can wear and make it worse in time are the dual mass flywheel, transmission mount, and the shifter gate plastic. Bushes in cabin at base of shifter can wear http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?332597-Getrag-6-speed-(160)-struggling-to-put-in-reverse!&highlight=getrag+reverse Transmission slack/slop (some threads from way back!) http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?36649-How-much-slack-do-you-have-in-your-transmission&highlight=transmission+slack http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?20377-Gearbox-Noises&highlight=transmission+slack Edited October 22, 2019 by Scooter (see edit history)
