ripped_fear
Thought I'd stick a thread up here for anyone interested. So last week I finally pulled the trigger and bought a nb mx5. Been on the hunt for a half decent base car for a while that didn't cost the earth, and this fitted the bill nicely. Its a bone stock mk2 and a fairly decent car, it's had some rust repair as most have and it has age related marks etc but for my grand budget I wasnt expecting much and am quite happy. The aim of this car is a winter hoon car and give me somthing I can guilt freely track in all weather's while the supra is in hibernation. ripped_fear
24hr after buying it I took it for a road trip around Devon for the weekend and she ran great. Even got Grace behind the wheel. So next up was a few mods, have a few on order, and alot more planned. But today fitted a nice subtle exhaust that is quiet and track day friendly. ripped_fear
So more things have arrived. Got a lip from an old vw I'm planning on trying to custom fit to the mx5. Got a rear ducktail spoiler and a rattle can of oem Colour paint to use as a temporary bodge job. Got some Mk1 door card tops and some track car door pulls for some custom door cards. And just collected a new coil pack and leads along with plugs
foggy147
Excellent choice!! I picked an NB 1.6 and honestly, it's probably the most fun car I’ve owned! As it's being used to do track days and generally just to mess about with you can just enjoy them for what they are. So far I’ve done croft, Three Sisters and Oulton Park, also taking it on a Nurburgring trip next year all being well. It’s currently got the below fitted: Ebay coilovers GCF1 Roll Bar (Highly recommend) Braided Brake Lines Momo Wheel Front and rear strut braces Uprated pads and disc Clean up of the underside MG/Rover alloy wheels painted white Few daft stickers (gotta be done) I've only yesterday purchased a second-hand cobra clubman bucket seat and a 4 point racing harness which I hope to fit at the weekend. They are great cars and I plan to run this until it becomes a really uneconomical repair, just fantastic with the roof off. foggy147
Yeah pretty much 3 years now, been an excellent car, only done 43k miles and everything does feel solid still. Plan on taking it to Blink motorsports as well to get all the geo set up for fast road use

ripped_fear
So today I got the new spark plugs, new coil pack and new ht leads fitted. Have noticed a slight weap in the rocker cover so just ordered a new gasket. Also got a lick of paint on the boot spoiler but the match as predicted is bad. The cars fade shows if the rattle can is a true representation of the oem colour. But who know. Also got my fabric through for the door cards
ripped_fear
Today I removed the front bumper and started to fit my lip. This is from an old passat, brand new replica part for like 25 quid so wanted to give it a go. It isn't perfect but am happy with the results

JayJay1374
I love a good mx5, here’s my old daily/track car. Great little car, it had a factory 6 speed and torsen diff. The thing it lacked most on track was more power, I nearly went down the supercharger route but the chassis legs where getting bad, ended up breaking it for parts in the end. You’ve gone for the right seats though. Mk2.5 seats are the best choice. In total I had 7 different pairs of seats in mine and mk2.5 rs2 seats where the best. I’ve broken 7 or 8 for parts in the last couple of years.
ripped_fear
Found myself a jetstream type 1 wing which I gave a quick aerosol and fitted. Decided I prefer this one to the curvier one I bought the other week

So thinking of trying to fit my recaros I have in the garage.
