Javadini
I have 4 x new tyres 255/40/17s sat here. is it okay to fit these on OEM Mk4 TT wheels? or if not what is the best size for OEM wheels please
Scooter
They are correct for the standard rear 9.5" wheels, Standard front 8" wide wheels usually have 235/45/17 tyres on.

Dnk
just checked on the OEM wheels i have and its stamped 16x 8jj on all the wheels. so stock wheels are 16 inch not 17? All the info is in the link i posted, TT's came with 16" and 17" diameter wheels, 1 exception was the UK spec which only came with 17's which was due to it also coming with the larger 4 pot front and 2 pot rear brakes, quite a few J specs also came with this set up

Dnk
You can use this site to see the difference when changing diameters, profiles and widths of tyres, also offsets and how they affect how the wheel fits, also added a useful tyre size guide https://www.willtheyfit.com/
