Is this forum getting smaller?

The Facebook sites were good for in-the-moment chatter, buying and selling. I managed to find some great bits and pieces, and sold a fair amount there too. I'd always advertise parts here first though.

Trying to find an old discussion was a pain in the ass, it's something this forum is much better for when looking for info already covered. Maybe that's why it's a bit quieter because almost everything has already been covered and a new thread isn't needed?

I refer to Facebook in the past as I've been banned from there by 8rembo's internet police squad who assumed I was selling fake brakes. No appeal process or a mechanism to sort it out. Bang, and your off.

A few of us still help out FOC and try to give useful advice, sadly the forum is being left to slowly die
Agreed.

I recently posted my UK Washer tank to Frank Bullit free of charge (he paid 1/2 postage) as a favour. It does happen but rare. A shame but definitely a sign people are moving on...

Short answer yes, its definitely getting smaller and will continue to do so imo, I think we have passed the point now that a revamp will help.

Ive just come to accept what it is, I've made friends on this place people who I will continue to be friends with even If I don't own a supra, the car becomes a bit irrelevant.

Forums in general became out dated and ours although an incredible source of information is no acceptation. The usability is poor and difficult unless writing a simple post. Also traders etc are so quiet now and most people just go direct. We live in a world where the latest generation of supra owners are used to instant posting answers, picture uploads, likes etc etc and the forum just cant tick that box, and lets not get started on crapatalk so no decent way to use it on a mobile device, A MASSIVE killer imo

People complain about the place becoming quiet etc but those same people don't bother to post or do anything exciting, keep up with build threads etc, everyone has a a part to play even if its just attending a bloody event. If you want change BE the change.

Yea it's a shame the top gear situation was so underground. That could have been quite the meet if more people were involved. Even if it was still kept a secret.

Maybe fear of it getting out culled that idea however.

Many turn to Facebook for sure.

If the people in charge took more notice and organised more events, would many put Back in the effort perhaps?

....

I know a few already organise meets. The sclub party looks good etc.

Do people want more events? It's difficult to organise that though if no one turns up.

I thought the TG event was posted on here I swear I saw it.

As for BIG meets lots of people put huge amounts of effort to organise meets etc, and members cant be arsed to show up.

Suprapod was great but we massively struggled for numbers, and hardly anyone staid at the hotel for an after party, I would be surprised if we saw another one tbh which im gutted about.

Events such a DB had more and more of a struggle getting numbers

NEC classic car show, we have had a few people come help on stand but years ago if this event had been around we could have had crowds of members lending a hand

Sclub another great event which is due for another down size as only the same crowd show their faces

I will throw my TRT road trip in the mix, just look at my threads barely anyone shows an interest, 90% of our members coming have joined because of the FB groups, and years ago if we had done somthing like that there would have been loads of posts at least!

Just lok at the response and think back to old road trips, dragonballs, dragoncol, and the macmillan charity burning of the veilside we did. Its just a different world now.

Then you have the static meets although the organisers do a great job I think lots of people have got fed up of seeing the same cars (not talking about our members talking about in general) I found i was going to shows 4-6 times a year and then just looking at the same 350z wide body, slammed 240 etc etc it just gets boring and lots of people go purely to socialise with their friends and then they will be turning to their local car clubs allot of the time. I would rather just go for a drive and meet everyone at the pub these days.

Jake's hit the nail on the head really. I feel sorry for anyone that's been trying to organise a large event for the UK Supra community over the last few years. JAE is another one to add as an example. There was also Japfest or something like that earlier on this year that was nearly cancelled due to lack of interest.

There was also a specific requirement for the Supra's on Top Gear as well. Cars had to be heavily modified, ideally high powered and the numbers were very limited. If the word had been spread on here then it would've been a nightmare to manage. They weren't interested in stock/BPU cars really so the majority of the forum audience who don't use social media would've been turned down anyway (with exceptions of course).
