Mgrene
Hello Forum. The reason for asking is because when I check the dipstick when the engine is hot, the dipstick only shows half full but when checking when the engine is cold, it shows full. I always used to check when the engine is hot but looks like it is not the way forward with my current Supra. Anyone who has ecperienced the same? wile e coyote
Cold obviously the oil will have drained down and will show high on dipstick Hot depends how soon after you turn off If hot and just turned off it will show lower on the stick until oil eventually drains down after 5 minutes or so There are 2 oil warning lights Yellow for low level Red for low oil pressure Edited June 29, 2019 by Tyson (see edit history)

When I check the dipstick while the engine is hot I normally do it approx. 10 minutes after the engine is off.

Sheefa
How much you use and the oil level will also depend on whether you have any additional oil coolers. Mine is filled to the Max level or just over on cold start given I have two extra coolers fitted.
