MrGRT
The two front bolts of the roof are coming loose over long distance drives. I keep tighten them to no avail, am I missing a trick here?
Hammer
I would think it's just wear and tear at the age they are. Try cleaning the bolts and sockets up, if that fails get new bolts. That's all I can suggest I'm afraid, no doubt someone with more and better knowledge than me will come along with some better ideas.
NUTKIN
You could put a tiny dab of thread lock on the bolts, it will give it resistance to undoing. Only a tiny bit thou or Ul give urself a nightmare
The Raven
Old age im afraid. Not alot you can do but buy new ones.
MrGRT
Thanks raven. Is that buy new bolts only or the fixings or both?
The Raven
The issue is you cant ever tell which one is faulty. I guess you could try doing the bolts if that fails then the fixing. Just be prepared that you may need to do both
evinX
I always found that using the OE wrench would never tighten them enough and eventually broke. For years ive been using a strong aftermarket wrench with the oe head. Tightens harder and un does the bolts easier to. Make sure you follow the tightening sequence as i had the bolt come unloose for weeks until i figured it out lol

Didn't know that although I have tried different ones already. I am using an Allen key

MrGRT
Anyone knows the part number for the fixing bolts ? I have looked into the diagrams and can't figure out which ones are they, sounds dumb I know. https://www.megazip.net/zapchasti-dlya-avtomobilej/toyota/supra-38377/jza80-55401/jza80-ajpvf-913592/roof-panel-back-window-glass-17774957#
ChrisH
I've had my Aerotop about 10 years now and yes the front 2 are always coming loose unless you really tighten them (but do not overtighten them!) Link here for bolt change and part number http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?194788-how-to-change-front-aerotop-roof-bolts&highlight=AEROTOP+BOLTS
MrGRT
I think evinX wanted to post this here: 90901-09004 You need 2 of them. These rarely go bad and if the threads on yours are stripped then the captive nuts inside the roof have had it to. Which would mean...new roof panel and 2 new front bolts. I have changed the bolts now, hopefully don't have to change the roof panel like evinX mentioned. Gotta take the car out and see
