RedM Posted October 5, 2005 Share Posted October 5, 2005 If your place of work provides a car park for sole use of employees, do the signs often placed around these car parks hold any legal water? I'm thinking of the 'park at your own risk etc etc' or 'We accept no responsibity for damage etc'. I would have thought that if you provide parking on your premises you should be respnsible for anything that happens to employees vehicles whilst on it. Right or wrong? We had a few Audi TT rear windows smashed in one day here a few months ago, the landlord of the site sorted out repairs and making sure the people were OK for travel etc. not sure if they paid for the repairs or what though. Basically they were OK about it and helped as much as they could (no records on the cctv!!), so it probably depends on how shitty your employers want to get. Supragal Posted October 5, 2005 Share Posted October 5, 2005 Had both. The old car park had no signs and when the gardeners strimmed stones up an RX7's bonnet he got that sprayed at cost to company. New car park is multistorey and there are signs up saying they accept no responsibility not heard any stories yet about if they stick to that or not... mrdsukautos Posted October 5, 2005 Share Posted October 5, 2005 Yes i had a problem with a car wash as well. The argument i had is that all car wash software is logic software. Now when this software detects a problem it should shut down immediately. It did not do so in my case and i was stuck in the car wash for 5 mins with the brushes slowly cutting into the paint work. They tried to use the no spoiler get out but as soon as i mentioned that their software was in breach of HSE legislation they shut up and agreed to repair the car. Though i am now fighting with them to repair the mess the reapir of mopping th brush marks out has caused. Now my whole car looks like a bag of crap but they have one more chance to remove the mop marks then i want a full respray out of them. Oh by the way this happened last novemeber so they do drag their heels as usual but hey if i get a free respray out of it then i wont be complaining. Ewen Posted October 5, 2005 Share Posted October 5, 2005 Not an official policy statement here, but my employers have been known to pay out for damage to employees cars caused by company vehicles / fork lifts / cranes etc, but NOT for damage caused by other employees and visitors...in these cases, if you dont witness the bump and the eejit buggers off you lose out...even when witnessed, the law is fuzzy (he he) as its private land and if the eejit who hit you gets arsy its a PITA to sort out...the usual 'cars are parked here at owners risk etc' has always applied. stevenb Posted October 5, 2005 Share Posted October 5, 2005 Lol at the above people using car washes..... why were you using them in the first place.....I'd never ever put my P&J thru any car wash ever.... it just isn't worth the risk. hope the scratches get sorted mate anyway..... we have signs up out our workplace car park....we do have security patrolling it too.......few weeks back we had an Golf R32 taken from the road just outside the car park......it was only a year old and was carted away on a flatbed truck......never to be seen again...mind you...they did park on the road..... same laws apply in supermarket car parks and similar too.... insurance companies always say that 3rd party accidents in car parks are the hardest to sort out...who's at fault etc etc.... mind you ...in this day and age we want security....and rightly so....out P&J should be safe from harm if it's parked on private land..... I do, work from home and get up later or drive to the office in my soop, have some fun on the way there and back but, have to work while in the office...I choose to have some fun most of the time Lol at the above people using car washes..... why were you using them in the first place.....
