Jalmarsson666
car started to missfire and then only ran on 4 cylinders after a while, checked to see how the spark plugs were doing and saw this, anyone know how this could've happened? Valve cover gasket is not leaking not surprised it only ran on 4 considering these are how the plugs 5 & 6 looked like Edited May 2, 2019 by Jalmarsson666 (see edit history)
jim_supra
My guess is that it will be a split in one of the rubber water pipes that feed into the inlet manifold, check the hose for splits etc.
evinX
Well from the pics. Your rear engine to heater core hose has been replaced. Maybe coolant spilt in when that was done? On the na you have 2 coolant hoses for the throttle body. Check those
mellonman
This is caused by the cam cover gaskets. The bolts holding them down my need tweeking up as the rubber perishes
Jalmarsson666
New spark plugs installed and runs like a champ now, honestly I think the reason that water was there was because I had the car to a carwash few days prior to it starting to miss-fire and they washed the engine bay probably with a pressure washer and somehow water got in the spark plug crevices, that's the best explanation I can think of because I found no visible leaks. ChrisH
I had a similar problem - turned out it was the rubber strip that seals between the bulkhead and the underside of the bonnet that had become displaced and let rain water in under the top of the bonnet near the windscreen. Since I resealed it not had any problems
