JustGav
The Apexi turbo timer links into the ecu and does a rough calculation based on the airflow/pressure sensor.... Gav

TRD3000GT
I still say go with the Blitz FAT DCII I bought one and have not had to change a thing on it.. It has some grat features as well... Digital boost gauge / pressure including PEAK Lap Timer Calculates timer by the amount of boost it sees and for how long... http://www.streetrays.com/catalog/images/blitz_FATT_DC_II.jpg

TRD3000GT
last time I looked they were around £130 ish... Fitting is easy enough if you know what your doing.. If not then £40 - £50 fitting by a mechnic takes about an hour
wez_p
i have a Blitz FATT one and Whifbitz supplied me with a harness that allowed me to fit it myself, only having to find a ground connection to wire up, the rest were sorted by the harness (cost less than £20 & saved hacking ANY wires on the loom etc) mine doesn't do boost pressure though but does calculate what it thinks you should leave the engine running for based on the RPM signals it has monitored over time (i believe) - that is auto mode, or you can just tell it to do a certain amount each time manually
CJ
I have a Blitz Fatt version but have often wondered just how useful these things really are. I am not sure about you but I have never raced around on positive boost, stopped the car and turned the engine off. Invariably, I have finished a "spirited" performance by driving very conservatively to my destination and have been off positive boost for some time - usually much longer than the turbo timer will say to let the car idle. So what is the point?
si wants supra
true CJ especially with all the traffic but its nice to think that you ve done everything you can to preserve the life span of your turb's
wez_p
it's only useful for when you pull up in the car park at work or at football & you get out in front of everyone, close the door and lock it, whilst the engine is still running then you go to wander off while everyone is still puzzled as to why your engine is still running and then it shuts off! the other use i anticipated it would be for was for running into the shops or using the cashpoint whilst leaving the engine running & taking the keys with you & having the doors locked - but i haven't worked out how to do this yet! Matt 6
I am using an Apexi Turbo Timer on my partners Pulsar GTi-R and it 'self times' to how long and how hard you have been driving. Now it worked fine until I removed the stock air box and replaced it with the Air intake kit. Now it is getting more air its calculations are outside of its range so id doesn't work anymore, I have to set it up manually for a set period of time all the time. The timer works by monitoring how long the ignition has been switched on for and the air/fuel ratio by monitoring the Oxygen sensor values. Chris Wilson
The very best one is called "The Driver".
paul mac
i have an apexi turbo timer but of miles more use is my oil temp gauge you can actually see how much heat you've put into the engine, after a spirited drive i would say it sometimes takes up to 15 minutes of cruising at low revs for the temp to come down, so 30 seconds from a turbo timer really aint worth a dam, if i were buying a new car i would'nt fit a turbo timer but if you do, get an oil temp gauge as well
