usman786
Hi, I have only had my car a week, so I don't know which make of motor oil I should use. I believe I should go with a 10w40 am I right? What do you guys put in?
RICHARDA
This old chestnut. People generally go for the Valvoline Synpower. I use Mobil motorsport 15w 40 with no probs. Rich
Terminator
The Jap spec label in the engine bay says 10W30. Nearly everyone on the BBS uses either 5W40 or 10W40 fully synthetic. You can use 0W40 but it tends to get past the seals and gives a puff on start up. Any good quality motor oil should be OK just don’t leave it in too long. IMHO it is a good idea to change oil every 3000 miles. If you do a search you should find loads of information, and oils ranging from Magnatec to Mobile
mos
I use millers, it comes in a size that can do a full oil and filter change from one bottle, i would say dont use mobil 1 - heard many bad things about front seal problems and the oil being too fine, motorsport is good though ive used that before
Terminator
Which Millers is that?
mos
XSS - semi synthetic 10w 40, this was recommended to me by millers themselves (im N/A.) Millers will also allow you to send oil samples to them and will give you a written tech report on the state of the oil that comes out when you drain. I.E. particle contamination and the like. Terminator
Sounds good, What do they recommend for the TT? and how much is Millers Semi synth. It would be great to get a sample tested from a TT.

mos
You would need to ring millers for the application for the tt but they are good, it comes in 5l packs and is the same price as the usual 4l packs, cheaper then mobil but not sure of exact price ill find out the specs if you want. Tony Smiley
To confirm: Just been down to the (my) garage - its Millers XFS 5W-40 fully synthetic and the last lot cost me £24 for 5ltrs. To be honest, if we are all changing at 3K, mobil 1 is superfluous anyway? Tony:cool:
