I should know, for when I was a supe virgin the car I brought had standard 16" rims and shod with 225/50/16's all round. Now to say that the car behaved like a bucket of shite would be an understatement!!!!
mos
Yes when i first got my car it had 16 with 235 all round, i think that is what messed up my supplier. Still they should have checked. I dont think a 245 will fit on a 7.5 wheel so what should i do - go 225 on the front and 235 on the rear?. I always wondered why the size difference as i got more knowledge on the supras anybody able to answer this?. Would spacers on the rear help to sort out the problem. (obviously properly machined concentric sets)
Steve W
mos, Have you got 4 x the Jap' spec 16"s ? or, some others ? The Jap' 16's are 16x8 ('fronts') [16x9 'rears']
AJI
Just to throw a spanner in the works here...... it may not be anything to do with suspension setup but could equally be something to do with the speed sensitive power steering? The power to the steering alters at different speeds, it may be kicking in too much over a certain non-legal lepton velocity?
Roy
i thought about that after the posting (doh!) and will also be having that looked at. from what i see, we are all driving on different sized rim/tyre combos and maybe this has an effect as well, especially if the intial geometry was pegged at stock after putting on new size rims ? fyi - mine are 245/40/18 n 285/35/18. mos
I have tried driving with the pps completely off, and with a resistor in the solenoid line thereby making it stiffer throughout the speed band. It felt a little better (could have been in the head). Checked the bolts - really loose many thanks im doing a big drive today so should be able to comment next weekend
mos
UPDATE: I was checking the wrong bolts but the ones i should have checked are o.k.. I think i have traced the problem down to either the pps solenoid or control vv, eitherway i have to change both at the same time anyway, i came to this conclusion because at 40 sometimes its light and sometimes its hard to turn the wheel so i think my solenoid is sticking. Anyone had this before?.
