blythmrk
I have a Uk auto gear box and just wondered are they the same as jdm cars? Also what is it worth please? Pic of plaque below.
Frank Bullitt
UK spec is part 35000-1B330, JDM is part 35000-1B310. You would be best contacting DavidP or browsing his transmission group (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/group.php?groupid=57) as I would be sure the details are contained with in Edited March 20, 2019 by Frank Bullitt Link added. mellonman
I spoke with dave about this the other week they are a direct fit , I thought I remembered someone saying they had a different teeth on the speed sensor sprag many moons ago, do you think the 1b330 and 1b310 are the amount power they can take as stock lol. David P
They are an identical plug & play fit. The speedometer sensor may be geared slightly differently if UK auto has a different diff ratio? But almost nobody runs on stock rims and tyres, which means that almost all are running slightly out of kilter. They change hands for £150 to £200, depending on how many miles it has done. Marcus GTE
Is the uk box stronger David?
David P
Not that I'm aware of?
Burna
Apparently it is stronger, but I haven't seen any definite proof yet. Just a chap from Europe claimed so the other month, but I don't know how much other information he has.
David P
J spec is A340E and U.K. spec is A343E. A later model box is likely to have upgrades, but I have seen no information to confirm this? However, Mr T. uses different codes than are used by AisinAW who manufacture these boxes. According to Mr T, both N/A and J spec T.T. boxes are A340E, however, these boxes are very different. Burna
J spec is A340E and U.K. spec is A343E. A later model box is likely to have upgrades, but I have seen no information to confirm this? I don't think it's to do with the age, but probably more likely to to do with the market place it was sold to. Like all the other higher spec'd parts on the UK and Euro specs, so they would be better equipped for the harder/faster driving conditions the car would be capable of being used for. So it's logical that the UK auto box could well be stronger than it's j-spec brother.
David P
J spec Supra N/A & T.T. are both A340E. (Sub coded A340E-GE & A340E-GTE) (US & Euro spec T.T. will be A343E-GTE) Soarer (& others) are A341E Early LS400 (& others) are A342E Later LS400 (& others) are A343E The Tiptronic box, which is last in the 35000 series, is coded by AisinAW as A30-40LS. Mr T called this one A34#E, but translated from Aisin to Toyota lingo as others, would become A340S. Which contradicts any assumption of larger numbers denoting stronger boxes, because the Tiptronic box is the strongest of the lot. More info here............. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/group.php?discussionid=153&do=discuss Should you find any information other than Old Wives Tales re. "strength" of these variants, please let us know? Edited March 21, 2019 by David P (see edit history)
