The £20K auto

Ah ok I see, fair enough :)

 

To be fair in general you have to factor in a additional spend these days, so if a normal Auto tt needs work it'll be up to £20K overall pretty quickly even with a low'ish purchase price, especially if you have to get third parties to do it all. I think the red one was a good buy in many ways compared to some of the £14-15K ones?

It was low mileage, 1 uk owner, rare colour, nearly bpu and slight body changes.

 

 

 

It was indeed :) I know I overpaid for what it is but if you’ve been on here long enough then you’ll know how much I’ve been after another DJG and how rare they are to come up, so had to bite the bullet

 

Wouldn't you much rather have 20k? :D

I can say with some authority that the £20k plus auto is a reality although that money is only down to originality, condition and provenance etc. The people generally willing to pay higher prices are retired folk / collectors who have very specific ideas about what they want before they will part with their money and originality seems key.

Indeed, collectors only want the very best and original examples of whatever they are buying. Sadly a lot of UK cars have been irreversibly altered but happy to advertise as a ‘UK car’. Maybe some people want a heavily modified car but the top money for all cars is for original examples. Indeed, collectors only want the very best and original examples of whatever they are buying. Certainly had my eyes opened with trying to sell the auto and the manual (which I am pondering what to do about). Get a lot of time wasters, even people with cars for sale contacting for a chat which is very annoying. Haven’t had to do it for 10 years, but you would ring other blokes from an online dating site to check out / put off your competition:-)

So this eBay auto supra would this be the one I purchased? 93 jspec rz. 123km.

 

A person from American wanted it at 20k + export costs, the seller wasn't interested, as they had no clue how to export, they normally sold old escorts and Corrina's.

 

I'll be honest it probably was top money for what I believe to be a top car, un modified engine, hardly used (30km since 2003) the mot history showed something like 2km in the last 10 years.

 

Honestly it's immaculate underneath, no seal damage, the interior is in marked, i took it to fensport for a service on the way home, who commented on this was the cleanest supra they have seen. I'm not sure how many they see but they had one when I was there.

 

I'll be coming to some meets soon so hopefully people can share there supra experiences. Or even show me around my own car haha. I've always loved these but have always owned a MR2 turbo.

 

 

Agreed some changes are needed

fake brembo covers

strange wheels and odd tyre selection.

 

But in no rush. I doubt I'll even bother with bpu.

I'd guess it sold for a smidge over £19k which would be a good and still strong price. I think we will see the first £20k auto comfortably before the year is over.
I hope so. My UK TT Red Auto will be up for around that once the full underneath restoration has taken place, that will bring it to a showroom standard throughout.

So I paid 17.5k, I really don't mind letting you all no as I have no intention to sell on or care if I over or under paid it's something I wanted and believe this is completely unmolested. Good for you, excellent choice in my book, very few this clean knocking about these days and I even think the price is ok given that it really looks like it needs nothing.

Hi Sheefa are you diy the underside or is someone doing it for you ,I’m doing mine at the moment and it’s hard going removing all the surface rust on the parts at rear .

I did the underneath myself yes it’s not nice work but very rewarding when finished!

Hi mate

 

No James at Performance@Hart is doing it for me. I've sourced lots of parts like new suspension boots, Bilsteins, control arms etc but he'll be doing all the leg work with me occasionally helping out! I don't have the time nor the space to do it myself.

I did the underneath myself yes it’s not nice work but very rewarding when finished!

 

I found myself cleaning down and buffing up all the arms, the sub frame and tank guard when I had the car up on the ramp recently for the brake fluid change. It can easily get very OCD anal.
