SUPRA GUY
Hi, I have a new bonnet cable that I want to replace in the supra, as the old ones temperamental and a bit frayed . Can anyone advise is it a simple job to change or does it involve removing lots of parts to get it changed? Appreciate any help. Thanks
markssupra
Relatively simple to change, I would remove the drivers side headlight and plastic arch liner as minimum to gain access as it will be clipped to the bodywork. Release lever under dash is only a couple of screws IIRC and might have to remove the bonnet locks to change cables unless you only change the main cable from the lever to the the cable splitter, in which case you could leave the bonnet locks
SUPRA GUY
Thanks bud, can you remember how long it took you to do the swap? Cheers
markssupra
About 5 years lol, honestly no idea as I was rebuilding at the time. Probably no more than a few hours tbh, just the inner arch liner could be a pain.
Douglas
If anyone has struggled to find a Mk3 Supra 7M-GT or 7M-GTE replacement bonnet cable, I just got one from Amazon - Dorman 912-412 right ends right length (2" longer), just needs a little tweak to remove a metal stay and a custom clip to hold it at the bonnet catch. The release handle is also still available from the Hilux of the same era. Gotta love the corporate parts bin.
