yes, but the software is impossible to find (available to apexi approved tuners only) and its got a funny connector cable, so if u did get pirate software u still cant use it.

there's a company in auz who have written their own software for it to work on the rx7 but they dont have a supra version available cos there is not enough demand (even tho i keep demanding :) )

i want it if anyone knows anyone with it :)

wez, u got the commander?

Nope sorry, a new ECU is my next mod!!!!

I have done some searching around and the Apexi unit was recommended by loads of people but when I discovered what you could setup with the commander and what you can change with the software it put me off.

Anyway, a PowerFC and commander unit doesn`t come out that much cheaper than an AEM which you have complete control of.

The downside is that the AEM does require alot more setting up where as the Apexi should be fully plug and play.

My old car is being done as we speak, automatic & power FC,

will of course let everyone know as soon as its complete.

The Power FC should be £750 ish, allow £300 odd for mapping, the commander is not needed.

I think it should be a great, cheap alternative to AEM.

I'm poking around at ECUs at the moment, what's the PowerFC's scope? Does it have a fuelling map and an ignition map, and does it do this by changing the airflow reading to the stock ECU like the E-manage or the Apexi AFC, or does it actually control the injectors/sparkies itself?

Mapping sounds cheap so I suspect it's limited in it's flexibility and abilities - which isn't necessarily a bad thing as the AEM is just too damn flexible :)

powerfc replaces the stock ecu, its a standalone ecu.

who's mapping it for u? if u dont mind me asking.

It is piggy-backed for the auto, as you say, standalone for the manu.

I've just had a shufty at it's specs on the Apexi website. Doesn't look like it would cope with the sequential turbo setup as it replaces the ECU.

The application list also didn't mention any Toyota models!

If it's piggyback-able with the auto box Supra ECU, why not piggyback it onto the manual one as well, then maybe the sequential operation and cold start and aircon and stuff could still be controlled by the stock ECU? Just a thought.

ive got one running on my manual, sequential still works.

i have no stock efi ecu, cold start, aircon and abs still work fine. no need to piggyback on the manual.

The AEM would appear a much better bet for an Auto Supra. The reason that the Power FC must be piggy backed in an auto is control of the auto box. With the AEM the ecu has total control of the auto box inc. altering shift points if wanted. It is also PnP. Is the Power FC PnP when piggy backed? If not there goes any potential saving, and remember with the AEM you get to plug in your lap top rather than having to fork out £'s on the PFC's commander if you want to take a look or have a play. On top of all that the AEM has many more selectable outputs.

Well, all I could go on was the application list on the Apexi website, you'd think they would show the model you have on there :)

So I assume that the PowerFC is application specific, i.e. they built the thing for the Supra TT as it still controls the sequential operation. I mean, the aircon may be controlled elsewhere and the ABS definitiely is, but I know for a fact the stock ECU controls the VSVs for the sequential stuff.

So if all the ancillaries still work OK and the sequential stuff still works OK, it would be great for someone with a manual box running hybrids and uprated injectors, to trim the fuelling and sort the ignition timing out properly, without using a fudged airflow signal to the stock ECU (for once :) ), is that the general concensus?

What about knock sensors/self learning, or would you use a different map for say Optimax + toluene over the usual Optimax only?

And, if it really is this all-singing all-dancing, I suspect Justin missed a zero off the mapping costs :)

:stupid:

Yes http://www.fc-datalogit.co.nz/

Supra one not sorted out yet but it's pretty generic in most respects from what I have heard, the software has to be changed for car specific stuff, two spark maps on RX7, VTEC engagement on Honda etc...

skyline tuners doing supras?

well if he has a good reputation for tuning good luck

they seem more into tuning as they have lots more big power cars. good to see supras getting tuned well. lets hope they do well this year.
