Glover
I need to change both my rear tyres because they will definitely fail on the MOT with the cracking on them. Currently on are 275 40 r17’s but my local tyre shops don’t have any of these in stock and recommend 255’s . I don’t know the make of the alloys and I’ll post a picture of them later if anyone would know what they are called as I’d like to know. Wanting to know what ideally should be on the car. 93 N/A JDM. Any help or advice from wheel gurus on here would be ace. Thanks
Glover
Best image I can find on my phone of them

Glover
Would this be stamped inside the alloy ? Or is it easier just to measure them?
AC93
Should be stamped somewhere, it will say 9J or 10.5J etc
Glover
Perfect, cheers, I’ll have a look after work tonight and find it out !
rider
Once you find the wheel stamp you need to then work within the correct width restrictions for that size wheel.

nigelboyne
275/40/17 very hard to get I had to go 265/40/17 hankook ventus you should have no prob getting that size, however make sure your wheels are at least 9inch width

I’ll see what mine measure and maybe drop to that if that turns out better for the size of alloy.
nigelboyne
275 or 265 hardly anything in difference in fact I think better grip from 265 on the 9.5inch wheel
Spunkmeyer
I switched out 19” 275/30 for 265/35 and the ride was much much better. Prefer chunkier tyre than thinner tyre look but comfort was improved no doubt

Glover
Finally got round to checking and the wheels say 17x19 1/2, so I’m safe to assume that a true width of 255 or 265 is ideal? Also what profile would be good for this? Thanks
