Dnk
I prefer to lock the pulley centrally, this method is locking on one side exerting load/pressure in one direction radially on the end of the crank which can't be good Edited December 31, 2018 by Dnk (see edit history)
Sheefa
Yeah this has been done a few times before on my old cars with no issue at all. Great trick.
mellonman
Doing it like that will put massive pressures on the power steering pump and water pump bearings. I would use it as a last resort . I made a locking tool out of a 1/4 inch thick 2inch plate with a hole for the socket and 2 more for the bolts to bolt to the pulley. but to be fair I just used the starter and breaker bar on the floor to undo it , far less effort lol
