Glass Headlights Jap Spec

Hi All

 

I thought now I've had my Supras engine rebuilt I would treat it to some new glass headlights. trouble is mine is one of the truly old dinosaur Jap spec 1993 models, ie pre facelift. Do they actually make glass lights for my era does anyone know? WB only stocks facelift onwards and that means buying the indicator gear for it too doesnt it as its incorporated.

UK spec are glass and will fit any ‘era’ mkiv. J-spec are plastic and come in pre facelift or facelift variants, any fit any supra.

Yeah. I’ve never even seen a facelift pair of glass headlights.

No that’s not a thing. You have J-spec pre-facelift or facelift which are both plastic then you have UK spec glass

Glass is heavier than plastic yes. The glass is thick. They do look good but I prefer a nice new set of facelift

I've just changed my headlights from UK glass to a new set of facelifts. As much as I loved the UK's, theres just something about the facelifts that looks better.

It doesn’t feel like there is a huge weight difference. Maybe a couple of kilos lighter per headlight.

But facelifts have different wiring ie in the inidcators, how do they fit on non facelift pre 96 Jap cars?

You can buy facelift looms for indicators, or modify the pre facelift ones to work.

The headlight on pre facelift isnt in the headlight, it sits underneath in a seperate unit.

 

The headlight only has main/full, sidelight and fog light.

 

I had glass headlights on a prefacelift supra.

 

It is a straight swap over, you will need different bulbs or to cut off a tab on your current ones.
