Glad you got it back :), is the independent saying there was radiator brackets before on previous inspection and now they are missing ? What is holding the radiator in place now ? Also depending how overfilled the oil is if its allot drain some out.

Given that it wasn't mentioned on the previous inspection and i have since had the radiator changed i would say they have now gone missing. I will get under the car later today and have a proper look.

I am going to do an oil and filter change anyway just to be safe. It has been pointed out that the oil filter used is not of the best quality and usually don't have a pressure release valve in them like the better ones.

Well I am glad you have it back and it's in a usable state Ben. You have been through a lot with it and fair play for getting it resolved. But...dare I say and I hope you wont be offended or take this the wrong way. HP seem to have put a lot of effort in making sure you are satisfied and issues addressed. It is a 20 year old car as they have said several times and some of the issues would have been there or appeared regardless of who worked on it. I also think they have possibly put more of the arguably existing or new problems right than some other places would. I have nothing to do with HP and until your thread had never heard of them so I have no bias on either side.

They can hardly be held responsible for things like the lack of rubber (Unless you gave them carte blanche to do absolutley everything they felt fit which I doubt) or a bulb failure on the number plate light. The missing battery tray, did you ask them to fabricate or source one at anytime?

Best thing I reckon now is to try and put this behind you and enjoy the car, its a 20 year old car and things may and probably will go wrong. Only you can make the decision if you want to carry on with it when these problems inevitably occur. Going through a similar experiance with my Son who has just come to the end of a epic supra rebuild and although it is brilliant he has been getting to the point where he is low on confidence with it, but hope in time this will be ok as he begins to use and enjoy it.

Odd how the independent who you would think types, reads and uses the word "brake" constantly spells it as break though.

Good luck for the future.

No offence taken at all, I fully understand what you are saying.

As I’ve said before in this post and have said to Hidden, I would not have expected them to resolve every issue. The one’s I wanted resolved they have, which were all around the running issues and condition of the engine. Considering they stripped the engine before fitting it and then got the car running I held them directly responsible.

However, saying that, I would have expected several of those items to be identified by Hidden and/or the MOT giving me the option from the beginning to resolve them.

I have managed to do a few things off the list from the independent inspection and have ordered some parts.

I have just had my first weekend with it. I didn’t do many miles but the car seems to be driving fine at the moment. It will take time for me to trust it fully.

  • 2 weeks later...

Finally had dry enough weather to put my foot down a bit after the car had warmed up and I'm hitting fuel cut. Looks like an overboost.

When trying to find the vac leak causing the over boost my friend noticed that I'm not getting an engine management light when I turn the ignition before starting the car (all lights should illuminate). We took the dials out to find bulbs for engine management, traction control off and slip removed. I replaced the bulbs to find them all alluminated upon start up.

I've read the codes and they are as follows:

17 = traction control fault

34 = knock sensor

46 = throttle motor sensor

Traction control fault was identified by Hidden on 3rd August. And an overboost issue on 20th August. I can only assume their way of solving the issues were to remove the bulbs.

I will be taking the car to a garage to sort the above issues and the over boost as we could not find a leak.

Hidden have been informed of the above.

Speechless.

That does take the piss. The fact that they identified the problems which means they knew about them, then to actively deceive. Wow.

Does that make a car unroadworthy? A garage making "modifications" to give you a unroadworthy car? surely that has repercussions not just bad words said on forums?

They know the car is used as a daily, and with winter coming I consider it dangerous to let it leave without the traction control working.

Also I believe its part of the MOT now to check warning lights? Along with the other issues identified previously with tyres and suspension arms etc. I'm amazed it passed.

I am currently in talks with my solicter, citezens advice and trading standards with the whole situation so shall update the thread once its all been resolved.

Pulling warning bulbs is on my list of lazy piss poor things to do by anyone, had a few in the Classic Range Rover

world suggesting this with the SRS bulb which amazes me even more when its their own car !!!!

Sadly i think that's still an MOT pass at the moment but hopefully it'll be changed soon

When you know a car is under scrutiny due to previous issues and with another independent garage being involved you think that no one would be daft enough to try this ... Deliberately removing bulbs if that is what the garage have done to me is surely bordering on the realms of a criminal offence ?

Most of the latest corospondents with Hidden have been on Facebook messenger. I created a group chat with the owner and the mechanics as it saved getting messages seperatly from each of them.

I sent a message earlier, to keep them updated.

I told them the car had been booked into the specialist garage to have the remaining issues resolved on the 19th December 2018.

I informed them I have spoken to citizen’s advice and as per the Consumer Rights Act 2015, after their repeat failure to provide me with a car that is fit for purpose, I am entitled to compensation of any repairs it now needs.

I also informed them the case has been escalated to the trading standards authorities for investigation.

As per legal requirement, I asked them to let me know if they are involved in any schemes involving alternative dispute resolutions.

The message was read and after a minute I recieved the following message from the owner:

'Please desist from using this application to communicate with us and instead use email for any and all correspondence including your last message.'

I put the above message into an email and asked that they confirm receipt immediately. I also followed up with one last Facebook message just so they knew I had emailed.

That was 3.5 hours ago and I still haven't received any confirmation. I fear the request for me to email will be used as an excuse to ignore my communications.

If I get any response I'll update accordingly.

I’m enjoying eating my popcorn reading this when I know 100x more than anyone posting on here but since it’s not my business I don’t get involved like the nosey cunts on here making others look bad without knowing everything.

So would recommend people understand that it’s his experience and he’s not digging at anyone but your all terrible making assumptions which doesn’t help anyone.

cant wait to see ben finally get what he deserves this company have well and truley ripped him off with there Dodgy mechanics suppose thats what you get when the owner has never worked on a car in his life and the mechanics have 0 qualificaitons or real experience!

:blink::rolleyes::search:

al i know you and mike are bum chums so of course you will defend him to the end of the earth but that garage if u can call it a garage has crossed the line with removing dash bulbs and not fixing the issues they knew were there. multiple times not once or twice but multiple times.

You clearly know fu*k all, which has been made apparent multiple times by yourself!

I don't even know who this Mike is let alone know where the garage is either.

What I will do is show you my comments below, which you can easily see for yourself in this thread, one of which was in response to your stupid comment :rlol:

Maybe, just maybe, you should engage your brain before you open your mouth and look a fool, but hey, that's just common sense!

D!ckhead.

No, the contract is with the company, regardless of who leaves or starts working there, it is the company.

it is as simple as that.

Oh shut up!

Not one comment here is making anyone look bad, the company has done that themselves.

People, or nosey c*nts, as you put it have responded to the OP's list of events.

For someone who knows 100% more than anyone here sure talks a lot of shite

This thread has been a very interesting read and a very good medium for Ben to share his experience. It would a shame to have to remove it because of childish squabbling and name calling, can we please keep this civil and on topic or i'll just start banning people from posting on it or remove it all together depending on how i'm feeling which isn't a great outcome for anyone.

To bring the thread back on track, unfortunately I have nothing to update with.

I have had no reply as of yet despite one of the requests being a legal requirement for them to provide me with information. I have not even had confirmation which I asked for that they have received my email.

Therefor as I stated in my last communication to them I will be going back to using Facebook messenger for future correspondents which I have confirmed is acceptable to use by citizens advice.
