Bobbeh
Anyone seen this - looks like the chap has a 'supra' looking t-shirt on - hope its no one on here. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-45397087
Dnk
I guess show plates suppliers open up another can of worms with the safety of the comment "not for highway use" when sold
Bobbeh
True, I guess a lot of show plates arent road legal anyway as they're for show right? Copying genuine plates and making them look similar / road legal is the problem... spot checks should clear this up.
Dnk
Does it get picked up by cameras, anpr etc that there's no post code of the maker on the plate ? I had my illegal sticker front plate on the supra for years with no problems
Bobbeh
No, its not that sensitive... perhaps the police can spot that if you're stopped, but ANPR is a little basic, after all we're talking about cameras at range here. creative
They should do what they do over here in Australia. You can only get replacement plates (or any plates for that matter) from the RTA (aussie version of the DVLA) Its all tied into the RTA database. Dave_Batch
I dont think I've ever owned a car with 'legal' number plates.. Not from size or font, just down to the drama of having postcodes and stamps on them from a supporter... Why would you go through the hassle of digging out your logbook and insurance or whatever it is your required to show, to then travel down to the shop and wait about for a plate...? EBay. 2 seconds, job done. Unless he was selling plates that cant be read or in an illegal font then i don't see much of an issue personally.. Havard
it was a hell of a burn out thats for sure! What actually caused the fire? I thought it would have been the front end that went up. H.
creative
What actually caused the fire? I thought it would have been the front end that went up. H. Split a stock plastic fuel line that runs over the tank to the hardlines. Hit the exhaust and up she went. I was driving when it started... These 2 lines were the only parts left that were stock and I was due to change them in 2 weeks when I was fitting the new diff. ( diff has to come off to remove the tank so I was going to kill 2 birds and all that jazz)
chazuk
I guess it's even easier now there's no tax disc to forge or copy , before they might of got pulled for something minor and the plod would notice the tax disc
