JGTC/Super GT

Since first appearing in 1995, Toyota has raced the JZA80 Supra as a GT500 race car in the JGTC series. Beginning with a four-cylinder 2.1-liter turbocharged 4T-GTE mounted onto a stock bodyshell with wide arch body kit and spoiler.[18]

Over the years, as demands for expensive GT1 race specials became common, the JGTC regulation drifted away from FIA rules, as a result, the Supra has progressively underwent numerous changes over the years,[19] most noticeable, the numerous body changes and by the late 1990s, the Supra used a developed version of the 3SG,[20] which was developed from the IMSA engine and similar to the 3SGTE engine found in the Toyota Corolla WRC car.[21] By the early 2000s, for the benefit of torque, the Supra moved on to 3UZ-FE V8 engine.

Altogether, the Supra has taken the title four times in 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2005. Despite being out of production since 2002, factory teams continued to use JZA80 Supras with continued successes. The car's swansong competitive year was in 2006, when it was used by Toyota Team Tsuchiya and Toyota Team SARD,[22] since then, Toyota has since been represented in GT500 by its luxury brand Lexus and its line of GT cars, the SC430, RC-F, and most recently, the LC500

In 2000, the Falken team entered the 24 Hours Nürburgring race with the 2-litre turbo version. Modified for the race around the clock the car made it up to the 6th place when an accident ended its race in the early morning.[23]

Le Mans

The JGTC specification Supra made its Le Mans debut in 1995 by the factory backed SARD team which it finished 14th, the team returned again for the following year which they did not finish.

Found more info

Introduced in 1995 in the JGTC class in the GT500 class, the Toyota Supra JZA80 from the race was equipped with the 4-cylinder supercharged 2090 cm3 Toyota 4T-GTE.^Equipped with a KKK / K27 turbine, this engine was equipped with electronic injection and double spark ignition.^The power generated could vary from 360 to 500 horsepower.^Obviously the Supra was equipped with the 4T-GTE in a more thrust configuration, not to lose competitiveness with the fearsome Nissan Skyline GT-R.^Subsequently, the 3SG engine is mounted, similar to that of the Toyota Corolla WRC and specially developed by Toyota for the IMSA championship in collaboration with Yamaha.

This engine, of 1998 cm3 developed a power output far superior to that of the Corolla, attesting, like its predecessor, on 490 horsepower.^The decision to use an engine with reduced cubic capacity compared to the original engine (the powerful, but heavy 2JZ-GTE of 2997 cm3) involved a not inconsiderable advantage especially when inserting a curve, given the lower weight at the front end.^On the other hand, the engine lacked in torque, a defect filled from the early years of the new millennium with the adoption of a V8 engine, the Toyota 3UZ-FE, also mounted on the Lexus SC430, which in the race version exceeded 500 horsepower power.^This unit will be used on the Supra until 2006, when it will be replaced by the Lexus SC430.^

In terms of suspension, both the front and rear Toyota adopted the independent suspension layout.^The power was discharged to the rear wheels via a sequential 6-speed Hewland transmission.^The aerodynamics were designed for sports use, thanks to the gigantic (more than the series that looked like a football goal) rear wing, the rear extractor and the numerous front aerodynamic appendages, which were used to improve the downforce at high speeds.

In 1997, the Supra of the TOM'S team definitely prevailed on the Japanese motoring scene, beating rivals like the aforementioned Nissan Skyline GT-R, Honda NSX and even the Lamborghini Diablo and Porsche GT1.^That year the pilots of the winning team were Michael Krumm and Pedro de La Rosa.^In the second race of that year, held at the Fuji Speedway, Krumm sets the fastest time, and at the end of the race the first five places in the standings were all of pilots who were driving Toyota Supra!^Before the final race, held on the Sugo circuit, the TOM'S team had obtained two victories and a second place, and needed a victory to remove any doubt.^At the end of the race, Krumm and Masahiko Kageyama are with the same number of points, but thanks to the higher number of placings obtained, the final victory goes to Krumm.

To many, however, the Supra JGTC is known especially thanks to the Gran Turismo series for Playstation, in which it was one of the best performing cars of the game, along with other JGTC cars in the GT500 category with different specifications (power of 611 horsepower in front of a weight of 1180 kg)

Here is a video dating back to 2003 that resumed the great clash between the Supra by Erik Comas and the Supra by Juichi Wakisaka in Sugo (note the enthusiasm of the Japanese commentators!)

Do you think this kit would arrive in one piece from the states, It doesn't seem to be too bad of a price for the complete kit.

Very cheap at $1200 and i'd be concerned about quality, worth doing some research before buying imo

A well made kit that fits is not that easy to make, i read the Duraflex kit is a lot of work to get the surface finish

right as its very wavy and needs a lot of blocking.

I personally wouldn't do it again even using the best kit at the time which was from MVP
