Hi, i am trying to find more info about a coil on plug system for my 2jzgte vvti engine.

I saw several supra who did this upgrade

https://www.platinumracingproducts.com/product/complete-kit-1j-and-2j-vvti/

And the same system but with Audi R8 cop

Other that there are the Ignition Project kit

https://www.ignitionprojectsusa.com/products/ip-hexa-pac-for-toyota-2jz-gte-1jz-gte-engine-sku-ip-h137607

I know that these system must be wired into oem wires and does not support the oem igniter ( and in the case of wiring on oem ecu, the tachometer does not works anymore )

So i would like to know what do you think about this upgrade? what are the possible pros and cons? which guarantees the best choise between reliability, efficiency and power?

The R8 coils are not very special just another variant of the stock VAG coils found in several cars. Also the coil pack cover won't fit over them.

The R35 coils are a good upgrade, they are powerful units. I'm not sure if those coils put out an IGF signal though? In that case they won't work with the stock ECU.

Lastly there are 1ZZ/1NZ Toyota coils, they are definately compatible with the OEM ECU but can suffer from high temperature problems.

No kit is truly plug and play as you have to wire them into the stock loom and delete the igniter.

Thaks gor replies. I know tha these kits must be wired on stock wires with the elimination of the stock ignitor. This is not a problem since i want to do this upgrade on the standalone ecu. So, to improve the performance of the stock ignition system, ther'a way?
