Crank Trigger 12 teeth swapped to 36-2 - Syvecs set up ?

Sorry if this has been posted before - I did try and search ...

I'm at the final stage of rebuilding the Supra and it has now been sitting for two weeks because I cant get anyone to set up the new trigger wheel config on Syvecs.

Can anyone shed any light on the 36-2 trigger wheel settings ? - I was told when rebuilding the engine this one piece sensor wheel was better than the non vvti that I had for Syvecs sync.

Had someone try and set the timing up but we couldn't get it close to matching up with the timing marks on the crank and cam covers.

Not the best when it comes to the mapping side of things , going to have to try and do this myself if i want the car back on the road I think.

Any help appreciated !

Cheers,

Ross

Why not email Ryan/Syvecs ? or whoever supplied/mapped the ecu before ?

Fitting the trigger wheel is easy, but you'll need to configure the ecu for that wheel, as well as tell it where the missing teeth are in relation to cyl TDC ( and type of sensor used etc )

You should be able to get a decent TDC reference from a simple visual/test rotation of the engine by hand. ie where the trailing edge of the missing tooth after the gap is ATDC which is what you are telling the ecu

ie. set engine to TDC cyl1 then rotate clockwise until the tooth after the gap has just passed the sensor....then note how much you rotated to get to that point

Keep in mind that you have to consider your idle ignition angle from your ignition map when using the timing light. E.g. if your ignition timing is 7° at idle your crank mark will show 7° before TDC.

You'd either need to lock timing for the test or ensure igniton based idle control is not active, as it will be moving timing quiet a bit.

Another way to verify, is to pull all the plugs except cyl1, crank the engine and record the syncscope. This will indicate 0-720 ( 0 based on where you've already told it ) so you should be able to see where crank rotation slows slightly when cyl1 is on compression and if this then corresponds to 0deg. If not then you need to adjust til it is correct.

Cheers for all the Info guys !

I've been getting help from Chris at Dyna tune in EK - he has set up the teeth counts & gaps on syvecs. I'm now just adjusting the reference angle till it matches up with the physical marks of TDC on cylinder 1 at the crank.

Once the signals match up from the timing light and inputted angle to syvecs on Number 1 will the rest be set - Sorry completely out of my depth with this side of things ! trying to learn as I go.

Stopped checking just now as I've spotted an oil leak from the turbo feed pipe ( looks like easy fix ! )
