gsportcars
Hi guys, It's been quite a while since I have been on this (or any other) forum. Apologies for chiming back in with a for sale post. I expect many of the people I would have known back in the day may be long gone anyway I currently have a Supra that is for sale. Please see details below. The car is located in Belfast NI. I can certainly do my best to meet up with a genuine buyer if they wanted to fly over or get a boat etc etc. Lots of the work was done by other local tuning shops and I have since corrected some previous poor workmanship etc as well as tuning the car properly. As mentioned below the main issue is 2nd gear. It drop into 2nd gear no problem on an upshift but it needs a throttle blip when shifting down from 3rd to 2nd. I suspect the syncro needs replaced. 2JZ-GTE VVTi New genuine Toyota head gasket recently fitted, ARP head studs GSC Power division 269 cams. Titanium Beehive valve spring and retainers Titan Motorsports exhaust vernier pulley (properly degreed). Billet timing belt tensioner bracket. Precision 6466 .96ar turbo. 60mm Turbo Smart wastegate. Box top mount manifold. Turbo Smart Raceport BOV Battery relocated to boot. SSI performance intake manifold with 90mm throttle body Top feed fuel rail with 800cc Bosch injectors Walbro 450lph turbine fuel pump. Automotive fuel pressure regulator Aluminium race radiator. Front mount intercooler. R154 box with Act twin plate clutch. All seals replaced on engine and gearbox TRD diff Oil cooler All covers carbon dipped. Sills, timing cover, fusebox etc Electronics… Link G4+ Storm ECU Audi R8 coil packs AEM wideband running closed loop fuel with the ECU Several gauges including Apexi boost, water temp. Greddy oil pressure etc etc. Tuned in house at Gsport Cars to make a safe 606HP. Dyno graphs and video available. Interior... NRG quick release with Momo steering wheel All plastics carbon dipped Toad alarm Corbeau reclining bucket seats Factory black leather rear seats Exterior... UK brakes with Chris Wilson pads Tein coilovers Shell including under side is mint Top secret seibon carbon bonnet Top secret front bumper Carbon garnish on exhaust shroud TRD carbon spoiler Xxr 527 wheels set of 4 with 245/45/18 Continental and 235/45/18 Continental. 2 rear spare Rota force wheels with 285/30/18 Fully wax oiled underneath Full respray recently in same colour code 6no and brakes done nissan 350z orange. Bad points… Some engine bay wiring still needs tidied a little further if you are fussy about appearance. 2nd syncro has seen better days. It selects 2nd gear no problem when upshifting from 1st to 2nd, but when down shifting it requires a slight throttle blip before it will drop into gear. I have now gotten used to this in a short space of time. The double din head unit has been wired incorrectly. It needs to be manually switched on but it does hold radio stations (easy fix). The passenger front side kick panel is missing. I may be able to get one of these. Car can be seen on a 2 post ramp. Price is £19,950gbp ono This is a properly setup car, it drives very well. I have spent some time with tuning to make the car comfortable and fun to drive. There are some issues as mentioned above for the buyer to tinker with over time but this is a great investment for someone looking to place their cash into an appreciating asset with some fun added! rider
this is a great investment for someone looking to place their cash into an appreciating asset with some fun added! Increasingly the appreciation is around stock cars and this car seems a long way from stock. Its value will also be tied somewhat to what the starting car was, as detailed on the VIN plate. There is no info on what the car started out as within the advert and £20k is particularly strong money for any car with R154 transmission issues. It'd be strong money even if it were an otherwise pristine stock TT6 car suffering V160/161 issues.
Style
Increasingly the appreciation is around stock cars and this car seems a long way from stock. I'm gonna disagree with that. Sheefa's UK 6spd recently sold for good money and that's far from stock. Ibrar's F-Bomb 2 (NA-T 5spd) also sold within a week for what we all thought was mega money for what the car is. Fact of the matter right now is that the market has never really come across cars that are as heavily modified as the 90's JDM market. MK1/2 Escorts came close and they still command good money in various guises. If you ask me, a WELL modified Supra with good, reputable components are increasing in value just as well as the stock cars are, if not better. With that being said, the US market is a different story altogether.
Scooter
I think the syncro is the issue here + location. Not many like to pay a fair chunk and then immediately have to do work, especially when as the cars appreciate and get more expensive, generally the willingness of the owner to self fix or have something not perfect is lower. What I'm saying is I think you can still get R154's new (?) and for about £2-3K and it might be easier to sell at the then £23K than it is now at £20K, in fact I'm certain it would be... Rebuild sets available for them too so the current one could be refurbed too and either sold or kept for long term insurance. Let's face it when driving the thing whether its a V161 or R154 makes little differences so I could see it fetching the money (MSB NA aerotop Keron had for sale went for over £10,000?) Mine hit the full asking price of £33k and two others when discussing higher offers, not that I would entertain as I know the new owner and he had first refusal. The only reason I sold up was to release cash for other means/opportunities and I saw a part ex as a good opportunity to take a stock UK TT and sell to USA if it really does boom. Plus as I hardly use my car it made sense to get a stock example I can store and tinker with. If that wasn't an option I would of taken full cash. Big modified singles do require maintenance and there's always the "what if" when driving them, engine letting go etc. However, these cars whether modified or stock will command good money for the foreseeable future. Stock cars are rising in value faster than modded cars and have been for a few years now. So by deduction, anyone seeking an investment through the purchase of a Supra would see a much better return by selecting and buying a stock version of the car. Traders are shifting stock cars at advertised prices well North of £30k these days. But to get back on topic £20k is a bit of a ask for any car with transmission issues. Looking at the spec its not a bad price at all when the tranny could be sorted easily for under £2k .
