herbiemercman
hi guys, long time no speak, however most of us come a running when we want to have information. i know from this club that some members move their batteries from under the bonnet to the boot of the car. i always assumed this was to make more space, but i need to know if another reason was to increase the life of the battery ? the reason i am asking this question is that in the past 2 years i have had 3 bosche batteries, the first 2 failed after 18 months, post the nat conversion, so not sure what will happen to the 3 rd battery which was fitted today ? could it be that my engine now runs much hotter, sort of circa 30c, the oil cooler has a stat at 90 c but in our current med weather it is reaching 120c, when i open the bonnet after a blast the heat is mega, so could the battery be cooking outside it's max working temp. ? i also think that i cannot shield the battery like i have done with the brake servo etc, which are just radiation based, wheras the battery could be cooking for a couple of hours, irrespect of any shielding i carry out, it is just the ambient that rises. any info will be well apreciated. herbie.
