tintinmt
I have a new centre roof lock mechanism for my aerotop as it was missing when I purchased the vehicle. I have trial fitted it and it seems to require a spacer in order for the bolt to meet the hole over the windscreen. Has anyone encountered this before? I just want to make sure I am not missing something before it get some spacers.
tintinmt
No replies, but I proceeded to fit around 5mm of spacing washers at the front and 3mm at the rear of the lock mounting points. Seems OK. Did not seem to cause an issue for the headlining that I had to refit all the mounting points too as well. I used off the shelf M6 bolts, so just adjusted the length accordingly
Mika
I just noticed your post. I think you did the right thing in your situation. The center lock should bolt straight to the roof without any shims/washers, but now the fitment of the center lock metal tab seems to be correct and flush with the washers. I would have done the same if the roof panel would fit perfectly Ok otherwise (all bolts fits easily and the roof panel lines up nicely with the wind shield frame and the back of the roof and seals like it should). It might be the replacement center lock is not 100% same shape as the original factory fitted was?
tintinmt
Hi Mika, I would guess too that something has changed. Maybe at facelift? Anyway, the roof fits and locks as I have configured it, so I doubt if it is a problem. I saw a similar post from an owner in Australia but no reason for the lack of fit was posted.
