Cambelt change intervals on tt import

Hi all. I have a 1993 tt import. Is it 60k miles for the above? Or, how many months?

Depends how many years that rubbers been on the car. Can do a visual. Take the cover on and look for any crackling. Should be nice and smooth on the top of the belt.

I was told by the local Toyota garage back in the late 90's when these car were still being made that pre 98 belts were 60k or 6 years so I've always had mine done every 6 years. The only belt I ever had snap was on an Audi 26 months after it was replaced (by Audi) and it cost me an incredible amount of money to repair, fortunately the Supra doesn't have the the interference issues.

With Supras now increasingly on low annual mileage timing belts may become more of an inspection item than scheduled service item.

They're non-interference (apart from VVTi N/A), so it doesn't really matter too much. I did mine on purchase, also did the waterpump and crank damper while they were in there as it's a lot of the same labour costs.

I remember ages ago Toyota saying they wouldn't do imports , until they realised how much money they were losing lol
