blythmrk
I am nearly ready to replace all my Blk Uk tt6s front suspension. I will be removing both sub frames brake lines etc. & bare metalling (where required) and refinishing the whole front end bulk head area (all sub frames arms etc. are being replaced with new or refurbished parts) I will update my thread when work is underway! The question is should I build up the subframes with arms and hubs complete then offer the complete unit up as one or fit individual parts so basically building it back up on the car plus and any tips as I will be working on the floor with no ramp The easy part is taking it apart for me! Thanks Mark Edited July 4, 2018 by blythmrk (see edit history)
evinX
Ive never done it mark, but from what ive seen over the years i personally would of fitted the bare fames back on then fitted all the parts. More fun imo. And like me i dont have a ramp. So lifiting a complete subframe back onto the car with regular jacks with the shell on axle stands seems quite tedious. rider
How are you planning on supporting the engine during the changeover or are you going to be taking it out? Thats the question that has me thinking of just changing all the suspension parts rather than titivating the frame as well.
blythmrk
I am going to borrow my mechanic mates engine hoist I am hoping it will be a quick swap around on the alloy sub frame I am also thinking is it easier to remove the steering rack too as it comes away with the alloy subframe I am changing both inner and outer rack ends too. Looking at it the rear end seemed far easier!
rider
Looking at it the rear end seemed far easier! That's the impression I got as I figured if its frame off then its either engine out or engine support and then you may as well do anything you want to do to the rack and fit new engine mounts while you are there. Which is why I was thinking of just do the bushes, drop links, roll bar, bolts, arms and track rod ends. I've got all the new OEM parts ready to go, its just the motivation that's missing at the moment.
