Gaz6002
Shame i can't read it because i use an adblocker. Websites what do this are beyond low. Ric, without ads no car website would be able to function. It's what pays our bills. Just allow the ads on that site only. It won't hurt. Bobbeh
I had a long chat about it with Ben (who wrote that article) yesterday. It sounds like they've nailed the concept of building a standard replacement for the mk4. The GRNM version is going to be wild, by all accounts. Only thing slightly concerning is lack of passenger space due to design constraints, but I need to sit in it myself to comment about that. Would be a bit daft if the passenger area was too small - having said that the MK4 wasnt great in that respect, sure the footwell is smaller. JasonR24
Just seen on the Supra mk5 page on Facebook that the Germans will be able to put reservations on the new Supra on Toyota.de/Supra as of tonight at 8pm?! Is this true? Edited October 2, 2018 by JasonR24 (see edit history)
Gaz6002
Just seen on the Supra mk5 page on Facebook that the Germans will be a lemon to put reservations on the new Supra as of tonight at 8pm?! Is this true? A lemon? It's the Paris motor show today so there could quite easily be news from there.

Nice I had a feeling Tada would not let us down, 50k that's cheaper than everyone was expecting isn't it GRNM version probably be more expensive but new at 50k if they stick to mass producing these as they said then this could be interesting. So 50/50 weight body as rigid as a LFA lower centre of gravity than a gt86 weight adjustable steering dct shift settings adaptive damper settings electric diff ratio control settings and lots of holes in the chassis/body for what I guess probably TRD parts galore Its a good start for sure and at least part prices for the mk5 / TRD parts will be back to a normal price can get a TRD steering wheel brand new for a gt86 for £430 Edited October 2, 2018 by chazuk (see edit history)
el_bandido
electric diff ratio control settings I've not seen anything about the ratio of the diff being variable, only the locking settings.
Gaz6002
I've not seen anything about the ratio of the diff being variable, only the locking settings. If it's the same diff as the Z4 (which I'm not sure about) then it's the same in terms of operation and software logic as the current M5's. Angarak
Not sure if any of you are familiar with Shmee150 YouTube channel but her covers a lot of cars in detail, he's just done a video on the new Supra
chazuk
I've not seen anything about the ratio of the diff being variable, only the locking settings. In that link ric posted “eight-speed paddleshift auto and an active differential (an e-motor wind the diff’s ratio up and down via a reduction gear)”
el_bandido
I'll believe that when I see it. Varying your final drive essentially gives you another set of gears, so I don't really see the logic in having 8 speeds and a variable final drive. It probably means the e-motor varies the locking/speed for each rear wheel.
JasonR24
Just seen on the German Toyota page that Germany are getting 300 of the 900 Supra’s for Europe and can reserve them now. Seems a bit unfair
Bobbeh
Bigger market than ours... 900 seems like low volumes for Europe.

CorruptSapphire
I bet Toyota are pissed about this. Pretty much the entire car released before they wanted

el_bandido
That site also suggests that there will be two 4 cylinder variants and only the top spec getting a straight 6.
Bobbeh
I was really hoping the wheels on the car weren't the finished ones. Guess they are I cant believe they're offering a version with 17's!? Anyway wheels are usually first thing to be replaced on a car, I wonder of this has been designed with the tuner in mind. Give them a cheap 17" option for those who want to swap em over. I can't imagine that's the thinking; the 17" wheel car will come with smaller brakes.
