nolizma
My AC doesn't work and I think it's due to the condenser leaking. I can get a new one but was looking at my options. Anyone who deleted their ac and have a spare one in good condition, or any other non oem options?

peter richards
mine went a few years ago , couldn't get one here but they had then in the states but the time I got over was huge cost so just left it , but I don't use the car much so no big deal . but if I was going to fix it no point getting used parts , probably end up having to re do it , kind of false economy
rider
You should get the system checked to confirm its actually the condenser that is the problem as it could be a hose that has split or one of the unions leaking. Get it dye tested. If you do end up changing the condenser yourself then you should also change the drier at the same time and add around 75cc of ND8 oil to the condenser before fitting (to replace the oil you will remove contained within the old components). evinX
I literally just had mine regassed, the sheet says refrigerant was recovered but no oil was. Are you sure its the condenser? Has it been vacuum tested? If it is the condenser you can get denso ones in from the usa for less than 150 all in. The part numbers are the same for US and JDM supras as i was worried about mine as my mums 2012 hyundai i30 condenser has failed and is pi$$ing green oil all over the undertray. Big Mark
I got new Denso drier and condensor from America. Luckily I had a mate working there to bring them back for me. Pretty sure it was less that £100 all in.

Rob W
Definitely get dye put in the system first. Ended up showing 4 different leaks across my aircon system. For a new condenser I was looking at buying one from here if I ever need to. https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/DENSO-477-0589-Condenser/232628516660?epid=77002989&hash=item3629bd7734:g:wQEAAOSwD0lUlANx

rider
I literally just had mine regassed, the sheet says refrigerant was recovered but no oil was. Any recovered refrigerant is boiled out of the system under vacuum so you wouldn't expect to get any oil recovered. The oil remains as a film coating within the system which is why its recommended to add fresh oil into components when they are replaced, 2oz for the condenser and 1oz for the drier which is around 75cc if replacing both. The oil can be wither ND8 or any generic ISO 46 PAG R134a compressor oil

Will keep an eye out over the next few days inspecting the sight glass. Mine had the milky white stream and is now clear inside
nolizma
Thanks for the replies! I definitely need to do some more research it seems. Will get the system dye tested as soon as I can.

Do a visual check on your sight glass, mine looked like this when it was low and should be nice and clear inside with the AC on full whack
