bignum
So Toyota finally did it, not much competition this year but a win is a win.
pedrosixfour
Are Porsche no longer in LMP1?
Havard
Are Porsche no longer in LMP1? No. Backed out after 2017's win after 3 years on the trot. Toyota should have won in 2016 but the car failed on the last lap of about 390.....pisser..!! H.
pedrosixfour
No. Backed out after 2017's win after 3 years on the trot. Toyota should have won in 2016 but the car failed on the last lap of about 390.....pisser..!! Yeah, that was a fair kick in the nads to get alright. I recall that last year an LMP2 car almost took the top step of the podium. Bit of a hollow victory for Toyota in 2018, if all they had for competition was who........ Rebellion? LMP1 seems to be a bit of a dead duck, no?
squiffy
Yeah the win doesn't really mean anything, they just had to avoid the embarrassment of not winning haha I think it's fair to say lmp1 is dead unfortunately
Havard
Would have loved to see the Porsche 919 Hybrid up against the Audis that dominated for years. Either way, loved Le Mans this year, GT catagories provided most of the entertainment. We are there next year. H.
Bobbeh
Yeah the win doesn't really mean anything, they just had to avoid the embarrassment of not winning haha I think it's fair to say lmp1 is dead unfortunately /QUOTE] Well it meant the criticism of them not being able to build a car that lasts has been addressed, last year Porsche were nearly picked at the post to win by an LMP2 car, and the year before that Toyota were well on for the win only to lose it at the last moment.. but for the haters thats still not enough. Couldnt care less personally, they won it - cant blame them for the fact that no other car manufacturer on the planet wanted to compete against them.
