Jellybean
Is anybody on here ,into their AV ? I bought Pioneer LX82 -- got it for a steal http://docs.pioneer.eu/Manuals/SC_LX82_ARB7422_manual/?page=8 AC Acoustics 3050 Speakers https://www.qacoustics.co.uk/q-acoustics-3050-floorstanding-speakers-pair.html#specs Recommended Power: 25 - 100w, Crossover Frequency: 2.6kHz I know its a multi channel amp , supports 7.1 but I am going to run it in Stereo for now Reading through the manual , P25 of the Manual , is Bi-amping/Bi wire is the best setup? I what I don't comprehend , the receiver has 4 Terminals for each crossover , but in the diagram on P25 it also states to connect two speaker cords to the speaker terminal on the receiv
Tricky-Ricky
Usually if you bi wire/amp the main speakers it will use the amps surround outputs to do it, so you will loose the ability to use these if you want to go 5-1 or 7-1.
Jellybean
Thanks , I only have the 2 speakers ; will do this for the interim The receiver has 4 Terminals for each crossover (Surround terminals, left/right) , but in the diagram on P25 it also states to connect two speaker cords to the speaker terminal on the receiver Does it make sense to you , to me the 4 speaker cables have a terminal each , no need to double up on a terminal
Tricky-Ricky
I think your confusing bi wire and bi amp, do your speakers have two or four terminals? with bi wire able/bi amp speakers (four terminals) you can bi wire them by separating the low(woofers) and high (tweeters) by running separate wires form a normal stereo amp this is bi wire, but to bi amp which is what your manual is saying you can do you run the separate wire from the main and the surround terminals of your amp to the low and high terminals of your speakers (providing you have four) Manuals often show both options if available which leads to confusion. el_bandido
When I was running the bi-wire stereo set up on my Onkyo Atmos amp, I had to use the two extra terminals that were originally for surround L & R as the extra terminals for the bi-wire. If you want really good stereo sound, get yourself a good pre-amp and a pair of power amps, that way you can do proper biamping and IT DOES make a difference. I'm still using my Onkyo for surround sound, but all terminals are now on single wire set ups to different speakers. If you're after something fairly cheap, have a look on Ebay for a Cambridge Audio C500 and a pair of P500 power amps, it's also worth getting a good DAC if you're into sound quality. Depending on what hi-fi/AV amp you have, there may be some pre-outs for the front two channels. I've previously run a set up where I used the pre-outs for front L & R into a pair of power amps for a biamp set up on the fronts, then let the AV amp do the rest for the surround speakers. The flexibility in this area directly relates to how much money you spend. If I was to do it again, I'd probably buy an AV pre-amp and have separate amps for every speaker pair, but you're talking £10,000+ which is a bit ridiculous. Edit: it's also worth looking on ebay for speakers, I can thoroughly recommend the Monitor Audio Silver range. Occasionally you can get a bargain on some of the gold speakers, but they will usually be much older. The Silver RS onwards are pretty good bits of kit. I've currently got a set of the RS6 floor standers, RS centre and two RS bookshelf speakers at the back. The Atmos speakers are cambridge audio ones and there are two more Monitor Audio bronze range filling the remaining rear points of the 7.1 set up. jagman
Ive had HI FI /AV stuff for decades , and over the years collected stuff , far too much stuff for any reasonable person to have !! , mostly British stuff ,all high end offerings and about 4 bang and olufsen systems and about 12 B&O speakers - I would suggest skipping all the old "system" offerings , AMPS/DAC/SPEAKERS at al ,and go straight to the DEVIALET phantom gold ... its wireless and the speaker contains all the amp/DAC/power supply , its not that big to look at , simply plugs into mains and sits on its stand ...connect to your iphone or whatever and play - It is astounding , how one speaker can sound like it does is bewildering ...a £2000 speaker that you could spend £40000 on other makers gear and still not match . 4500 watts , yes 4500 watts with 0 distortion ,108db ,and down to 14hz .......its like driving a fiesta all your life and then trying a big single supra The only thing better I can think of is to buy a pair if you have a room big enough , if looking for hi fi ,go check one out at a dealers I am hooking up a pair to my AV but its a unique install ,as I am having a full size cinema screen ,which most people could not do due to space requirements
