peter richards
that's the point it wasn't ready to be scrapped and as it was to heavy he dragged it up my drive leaving marks in the tarmac
Big Mark
Call the police and watch them do nothing. They are too scared to confront pikeys.
peter richards
it might very well be scrap , but not until my old man had tried to fix it , just the cheek of it that's pissed me off and the marks on my drive
Shane
Had a very similar thing happen to me last year. By aggreement with them, I have a cosy little corner of Tesco's private staff car park at the rear of my house which is also rear the access to my garden. I had a Supra shell parked there for a few years and in front of it (as in hemmed into the corner away from view of the street) a 1uz engine and box on a pallet, a good TT box, a good NA box and a shell of a TT box donated by David P for the rear flange when the 1UZ went into the supra. The Engine and boxes had been there for about 18 months. Came home from work and discovered a trail of transmission fluid the full width of the Tesco Staff car park where they had dragged 3 gearboxes in broad daylight to their van and had unstrapped a ratchet strap that was holding a plastic crate to the pallet full of 1uz parts and taken that too. I guess if they could have got their van close I would have lost the 1UZ too! Tesco had a little bit of footage as they have a camera on their door and the Estate Agents whose space the Pikeys had park in to knick everything had footage but the bint there didnt know how to copy it to a stick and said it would overwrite in 14 days but said they were happy for the police to come and look at the footage. Reported it and about a week later someone called me so explained the whole thing again and they hadn't read the report correctly which mentioned the availabiltiy of cctv footage and said they would get in touch with both Tescos and the Estate agents. By the time they did the footage had gone from the estate agent's system and the footage from Tesco was pretty useless. But the real kick in the teeth was the snotty letter from the Police saying their investigations had not thrown anything up and in future I needed to take more care of my possesions to make it harder for them to be knicked. Despite the fact these twats had had to drag 3 gearboxes out of a very confined space, up a steep slope and around at least 4 parked cars to get them to their ileagally parked van in a private car park. If the police had actually sent someone round to look they would have known this! I now have CCTV on this area but as usual it was only this theft that made me get it done. peter richards
I have reported it anyway just incase I need it I pay a lot for my home contents and it covers my equipment outside so you never know as it was stolen I might be able to claim , never claimed before so might be worth a look

peter richards
been with the Halifax for years mate , never made a claim I think we have the ultimate policy or something like that , see how it goes , just spent 400 notes on a new one
Burna
been with the Halifax for years mate , never made a claim I think we have the ultimate policy or something like that , see how it goes , just spent 400 notes on a new one Doesn't matter mate, premium will now go up regardless, as you've spoken to them about it, doesn't matter whether it's a claim or not, you are now more of a risk, just the way it works. It sounds like you are paying an extortionate amount already to be fair! Have you shopped around?
peter richards
no mate , wifey deals with all that crap , I think we pay a bit more but get a few freebees holiday insurance AA cover that kind of stuff
Al Massey
£33 a month for an ultimate home insurance policy that covers outside equipment and freebies seems ok to be fair.
peter richards
shes happy with it al , fingers crossed we can grt something back , my financial advisor works for them so ive asked him , rather than like burna said enquire direct si if I can he will tell me
peter richards
update , not very good news for something I thought we had covered , phoned the claims dept earlier , fella took all the details , phoned me back £200 excess on the policy so that in itself kind of negates any claim for the theft , plus he tried his hardest to say it was out of the house so fair game for the scrappers , cant believe he said that after me telling him it was on my property and well away from the street . ok on to the damage on the drive , that's an extra policy which I don't have to cover external damage , so you can see the way the conversation was going he pretty much had a negative reply to anything I said , wasn't bothered that I had reported it and had a police ref no . so for anyone with the Halifax ultimate check it out it doesnt do what t says on the tin. ultimate is kind of misleading lol. the only good thing if you can call it that , burna was saying that even an enquiry will put the premiums up next year in this case only if I go ahead with any claim . total rip off if you ask me but there you go

Premium will increase come renewal day.
peter richards
after that performance mate we wont be renewing , one thing he did say as well when I question him when he thought it was ok for the pickey to come on to my property , he said if id put it out on the pavement for them to take that apparently is fly tipping , or so he said lol. he might of been having a bad day he did say he was warm
marbleapple
I have a little bit of experience in this area. I’m struggling to see how a home contents policy would be designed to cover theft of a washing machine outside of a home. I suppose the definition of what the property is might actually pull it back into cover even though it’s on your drive. I note the £200 excess but you need to check if it’s an old for new policy. If so, you may well find they’d have paid you the £400 (price of a new one). If a customer told me their broken washing machine was stolen; can I get a new one, I’d probably suggesting my fraud guys look into it though! In terms of damage to the drive, I’m interested to know why they wouldn’t cover it. If the drive is part of your property and your property was damaged during a theft then (whilst the circumstances are odd) it might be covered. The claims handler will be a junior guy. I’d personally ring up again and speak to a supervisor. I’d also ask them to put any declinature in writing and once I have it I’d write a short letter making a formal complaint which senior people have to review. If they uphold the decision then I’d then send it straight to the FOS to ask them to review. With the sums being so low you may well find they pay something to make it go away. The comments around algorithms is based on the assumption that all insurance companies work the same way. They might not. Mine certainly doesn’t automatically increase be premium. peter richards
thanks rich , apparently for damage accidental on exterior he said there was a separate policy for that , which we don't have . but as for the machine being out of the house if that's the case my policy covers theft from things like my shed , tools garden machinery , so if id said the machine was in my shed he would of had to pay me out , but the excess was what supprised me wifeys just got home so ill see why its so high. money isn't the issue here rich its the excuses not to look at the claim . and to tell me it was fair game the fact its on my drive is total BS
