Any recommendations for a good estate car, big enough for a mastiff in the boot and kids etc.

Also used for work and daily life drives. Sometimes used for French trips also, all this whilst the Supra sleeps!

I know there are lots of speculation on diesel now so whichever one I go for has to be good for those reasons also!

Any help would be great.

So far been looking into 5 series estates and Audi estates but unsure what the best on my price range would be. Audi is basic and Bmw is expensive. Especially when trying to get sub 100k miles

Budget maximum is 4K realistically

Volvo V70 D5 (P2 platform) Euro 3 (up to mid 2005). Will cover more miles than any competitor if its been looked after, and is a very reliable, comfortable car with a great sound system as standard. Will hold its value too.

Not sporty, but still very nice to drive and have a great sounding engine for a diesel.

Cars don't need to be sub 100k miles nowadays, thats such a throw back fallacy.

You haven't stated a budget but there are brands other than Audi and BMW. Im a big Skoda fan, one of my most trusty servants was a Skoda Octavia estate. Tdi, 160k on the clock, cost me 600 quid and did 60mpg

Anything jap apart from Lexus and Mazda diesels

Bmw’s Are great to drive but they are not as reliable as people like to think they are and expensive in the maintenance department

Anything VAG after 1995 is not going to reach into your underpants and have a rummage in the driving steaks

Volvo is sensable can’t really say anything else about them

Don’t go French

And anything ford will fall apart as fast as it goes

Honda accord diesel estate !!

As above, for 2k you should get a low mileage 7th gen (2004-2008).

Or pay around 4k for the 8th gen, which is nowhere near as economical as the older model.

Both estates have the tailgate operated by the key fob, handy for use with dogs.
